Great value on that deal for a guy who put up 17 goals and 36 points this year.

SLAPSHOT723 04-23-2012 08:42 PM

Didn't realize he had that many points, good for him.

blasted_Sabre 04-23-2012 08:43 PM

Good stuff.

Gold Pads* 04-23-2012 08:44 PM

very nice

Blueline Bomber 04-23-2012 08:54 PM

Assuming it's true, that's a great value for the guy. His points don't do justice for everything he does.

Paradise 04-23-2012 10:20 PM

Nice deal for Carolina. 1.6 cap hit for what he brings is good value.

Finlandia WOAT 04-23-2012 10:49 PM

He's shown more chemistry with Staal than anyone since Ray Whitney.

I don't know how much of it is playing with a hot Staal and how much is his own merit, but a good chunk of those 36 points were scored in around ~50 games. Finally starting to show his potential?

Captain Hook 04-23-2012 11:05 PM

Yeah, I had no idea he had that good of a season. Good for him. Dude's come a long way since he was a Leafs prospect posting naked pictures of himself on the internet.

Brock Anton 04-23-2012 11:34 PM

Solid contract. Jiri played great this past season.

Fleury14 04-23-2012 11:56 PM

Phillipe Paradis

Sorry to break your tires but he just didn't fit here, The Leafs organization gave him various opportunities to prove himself over and over again but things just didn't well for him. I don't know what the problem was with him but he looked lost for the most part and nervous at times.

On a side note, I am glad he is succeeding for a another good organization who can give him time and space to make something happen.

Finlandia WOAT 04-24-2012 12:10 AM

EDIT: Nevermind, thought he was referring to Phillipe Paradise.

Gonna change this to a rumor as NO ONE else is reporting it, save for RDS. It's probably legit, but just to be safe...

Probably scared that some photos of him would get leaked :sarcasm: Good to see him finally get going, he always looked promising and now he may have found his home.

It was impatience.

They traded him when he was 21, the same age Kadri is now.

The problem was when our idiot GM at the time Ferguson, called him up way too soon and ultimately screwed up his overall development on NA ice. After he joined the Leafs, Maurice would either place him on the bottom 6 with plugs and journeyman players as his linemates, or have him sit up in the pressbox replaced by another plug. What irks me is that Craig Hartsburg seemed to be grooming him well to the NA game, and then JFJ just screwed everything up when he went into job salvaging mode and started throwing everything against the wall hoping something would stick.

It also didn't help when that dirtbag Steve Simmons decided to write an expose about the poor kid and his nude pic that went viral.

"Lusty Tlusty" was the front page headline...

So it was basically a combination of the above that led to his subpar play in Toronto.

Boom Boom Anton 04-24-2012 05:03 PM

Let's be fair before placing a lot of blame on the Leafs management. Ideally, he'd be a 3rd liner on Carolina but only due to lack of depth on the Canes did he get significant time on the top line. He also struggled his last year in Tor and first couple of years in Carolina which limited him.

He made nice strides this year and if he continues to show gains and develops into more than he is now, then fine. But right now, the jury is still out and the contract terms reflect that to some extent.

Xelstyle 04-24-2012 05:13 PM

Hope he continues to find his game.

I think it's just that he has internalised what was the leafs' gameplan up until this season, lose all hope with a terrible start and then make Fans hope by coming around when it doesnt matter anymore :sarcasm:
