Michalek kicks girardi, No official league discipline
 

I completely missed this but during neils soccer goal last night michalek kicked at girardi with the bottom of his skate. Very dangerous play.

No point to this thread. Michalek is not a Ranger, kicking someone with your skate is allowed.

Still haven't seen a video to this. Anyone have one?

Did Michalek kick Girardi with skate blade?
 

I just read in the NY Post that CBC has video of Michalek POSSIBLY kicking Girardi twice with his skate blade during the "no goal" scrum. Has anyone seen this clip? If someone has it, could they possibly post it.

Until there is proof I want it understood that I am not saying he did this, I don't want to give the kid a rep he may not deserve (re: Ottawa fans and Hagelin). But, if it did, I'd like to think the league acts swiftly and SEVERELY.

Watching this series, I really believe that players have a whole lot less respect for the game (and their opponents) than I remember from when I was growing up.:shakehead

Just watched the Neil "goal" on youtube. It shows a bit of Michalek-Girardi battle.

Looks like Girardi has him pinned down and Michalek knees him in the stomach twice. Girardi gets up and yells at the ref (not sure if its about the kicking or the goal).

No skate blade to the stomach, but still a dirty play. Not really suspendable though.

Can't tell if it's a knee or a kick, though I think kick because of you watch Girardi's body, the little bit of his left leg that you can see, it "jumps" back like something just hit him there and pushed his leg back.

Also not sure Girardi would immediately jump up and be so pissed if it was a knee

I think something probably happened but nothing will come of it. Just glad no one was hurt.

The league will not suspend a player before a game 7 unless there was clear as crystal intent to injure. Definitely not the case here.

May be he will get a fine, but I doubt that.

Girardi will probably get suspended for making Michalek kick him...

I'm more interested in Neil's comments after the game about catching Del Zotto with his head down. Intent and motive Mr. Shanahan.

Doesn't have to be today. Probably nothing...because...you know...Girardi didn't get hurt. Cause that's what matters.

Not much, no real "intent to injure", so there is precedent for suspending Michalek if the league has a better angle

But yeah I think they're less likely to suspend a guy during the playoffs

As am I. I guess I should not be shocked that Neil, who not only faces nothing, will not recieve a call from the league. Or McLean.

What's to stop Carkner for doing what he did last time? Go after a Ranger player and hopefully take another Ranger off the ice with him when that player becomes a "third man in"? Carkner played 6:30 last night. Would that be a huge loss for Ottawa?

I scratch my head that what matters is if an injury concern. Not the "intent to injure".
