Sox avoided a sweep by not having Santiago close. Smart thinking, Robin.

They ought to put Reed in as closer, not sure what they are waiting for or if it is a money issue. Or maybe Kenny wants to turn Santiago into another Santos, only problem is that Santiago isn't as good. I had picked him up in fantasy but after that Oakland game, I traded him.

ACL expert in the Tribune today said pretty unequivocally that other injuries could not have contributed to this one. It's just a fluke thing that can happen at anytime.

RayP 04-30-2012 01:21 PM

Concepcion - 0.2 IP, 5 hits, 1 BB, 7 ER, 1 HR, HBP, and a balk.

madgoat33 04-30-2012 01:32 PM

If I have to see beckham or morel hit again I may gouge my eyes out.

His brief stay in XST was his first competitive pitching in almost a year. Throw that in with getting acclimated to the US and the cold (by his standards) weather, and I'm not too worried.

Of course, I'm not too excited about him either, but that's a different story.

He's still what, 18 years old? Can't even imagine what he's going through, and this was his first professional start ever.

He's 20.

Just heard his fastball was 86-88 MPH :(. I was hoping maybe the Cubs had seen some extra velocity that wasn't being reported and that explained the huge overpay compared to expectations.

TwistedWrister90 04-30-2012 05:25 PM

why did derrick rose have to get hurt?

i've been crying myself to sleep every night since the injury

Panzerspitze 04-30-2012 06:38 PM

Injury prone since college. Deal with it. Another Jerry Angelo special. :sarcasm:

Glad you added the sarcasm smiley since he has been healthy up until this season; wouldn't want another meathead comment from the masses.

Hence the :sarcasm:

Cubs are on pace to hit less total homers than Sosa in '98 :amazed:

TwistedWrister90 04-30-2012 11:21 PM

my bad. totally misunderstood what he was being sarcastic about lol

Panzerspitze 05-01-2012 12:31 AM

Seriously though, wasn't Rose an injury concern coming of college? And even though I don't follow basketball much, in my impression Rose had missed a game here and there on and off since he's been in the NBA too.

He hadn't missed hardly any games till this season where the short season packed into such a small amount of time had lead to a ton of injuries this season.

Plus as Rose as said himself, he doesn't get the respect from the refs as other superstars, you see people breath on Kobe or LeBron and get called, people can crush Rose and it's almost never called.

I don't get it while they still play and yet people bash Dunn, yes he leads the league in strikeouts, he is also top 10 in HR, RBI, and BB. I'll take the good with the bad, Morel is 3rd in the NHL in Ks but doesn't drive in runs or get on base and neither Beckhams or Morels glove are worth their horrible hitting.

No. And before this year he had missed 6 games in 4 seasons.

In these Cubs' defense, Sosa's numbers were a little "enhanced" :sarcasm:

Funny because it's true type stuff there.

Only reasons that might threaten that are LaHair who had a nice game-tying shot for his 5th last night - just before Dolis forgot how to throw strikes. And Anthony Rizzo will likely be called up sooner than later after shredding PCL pitching, leading the league in homers while sporting an 1100 OPS.

LeHai is having a great year.

Illinihockey 05-01-2012 11:51 AM

What are the Cubs going to do with Lahair? Can he play right? Really wish HR could play 3rd

He'll have to play left field. If he is still hitting really well by the TD, trade him.
