sjshark91 04-29-2012 09:12 PM

Rinne robbery!

irregardless 04-29-2012 09:14 PM

Oh lord, Preds suck.

Gene Parmesan 04-29-2012 09:14 PM

Brent Sutter-Gary Suter coaching staff.

With every single Sutter on the team. I think they have another draft eligible kid this year. Draft him.

Phoenix wtff.

SoupyFIN 04-29-2012 09:14 PM

Of course, NHL player Derek Morris scores.

Or was it Doan?

KpopandHockey 04-29-2012 09:15 PM

I just don't understand, this Phoenix team isn't much different than the team that Detroit swept last year...

Mafoofoo 04-29-2012 09:15 PM

Goddammit NHL player Derrick Morris!

No Turris and Bryz. Both were probably distractions in the locker room.

Smith is in net instead of Bryz. Somehow that makes this years Phoenix super heroes.

Gene Parmesan 04-29-2012 09:16 PM

Too bad Jordin Tootoo isn't in this game to do something stupid.

I was just thinking about that right now as well. The only explanation I can come up with was a comparison to big corporations vs. lean start ups. Corporations have lots of resources, so employees don't feel the need to be as creative with their ideas. Whereas startup employees have to work harder because they have less resources. So with the Phoenix Coyotes, they have one of the lowest payrolls in the NHL, which forces them to work harder to make up for high paid skill they don't have. Perhaps its their way of showing that they should stay in Phoenix...I don't know.

There's also a simpler explanation....last year's coyotes had Bryz...this year they have Smith. When you have good goaltending, you can afford to take more chances offensively.

SoupyFIN 04-29-2012 09:19 PM

Oh, and OEL is playing full time this year in the NHL instead of hopping between that and AHL.

Gene Parmesan 04-29-2012 09:19 PM

Its shocking one of the best lines in the game is Chipchura-Lankow-Brule. Guys no team wanted.

There on the team no Owner wanted.

Gene Parmesan 04-29-2012 09:20 PM

Smith's ability to play the puck definitely helps them break out.

I know, crazy stuff.

SoupyFIN 04-29-2012 09:23 PM

I wonder by how much Coyotes value rises if they go really far. IIRC they were clearly the lowest valued team in the league moneywise.

This makes me feel a bit better about getting owned by Phoenix in the regular season. They're legit. Also, this shows how overrated Bryz is. I thought he was getting too much flack for playing bad against Detroit in the playoffs but judging by how badly he's playing in Philly too, I think he's just not a big game goaltender. Smith playing out of his mind doesn't help Bryz's cause either.

This, mike smith is unbeatable right now and a hot goalie makes any team a contender.
