Del Zotto - making it a 6 on 4 since 2010.

Guy is incredible to watch on O but holy cow he is just horrid on the D. He was completely, completely out of it tonight on D.

iamitter 04-30-2012 09:27 PM

I thought he had a great game all around. He's never going to be McDonagh on defense, but he's playing ~25 minute games now - as much as most #1 dmen in the league.

BroadwayBlues 04-30-2012 09:28 PM

For an offensive defenseman, he has a lot of trouble hitting the net.

That's because he's shooting to score rather than shooting for rebounds. When you pick corners like that, it's most likely going wide or into the net.

Kreider Typical 04-30-2012 09:42 PM

i don't think he's good on either end. his physicality is the only thing i've liked about him this season over last season. yea he's got more points, but he's still unreliable.

one thing for sure: we need him off the point on the PP. not that he hasn't helped it a little bit, but stepan, richards, kreider and stralman are way better options offensively (and defensively for that matter ;)

bumrusherer 04-30-2012 09:42 PM

I think his defensive game is coming along nicely. That part of his game was always going to be the area that needed the most work and over the next few years, it will get better and better.

Of any issues we may have, he isnt close to being one of them.

Why would he shoot for rebounds? It's not like there is anyone there to get them.

trilobyte 04-30-2012 09:45 PM

He engineered some nice smooth exits from the zone tonight.
It would be nice if his accuracy improved, but it is still better than earlier this season.
He did lots right tonight, way more than wrong. Guess he is not perfect, oh now what do we do?

MetalGodAOD 04-30-2012 09:50 PM

He's fine. 10x better than he was last year.

Rangers1985 04-30-2012 09:52 PM

Another **** thread. First Gaborik, now Del Zotto.

Del Zotto is fine on defense.

As someone said, 10x better than last year.

SnowblindNYR 04-30-2012 09:57 PM

I think he's good on defense but what the hell was he doing on the first goal?

Trying to take away the high pass and got caught.

lbrowne 04-30-2012 10:03 PM

So now that we've got Dubi out of the lineup the focus now turns to Del Zotto.

Man you people....

Whoot Whoot 04-30-2012 10:04 PM

Some people deserve their own thread. Del Z lets just about anyone sneak behind him - very strange that he lacks this ability.

Right?

GrizMint 04-30-2012 10:07 PM

The truth with Del Zotto is, like a lot of the young defensemen in the league... young. He's only 21. Takes a long time to learn all the different coverages, breakouts and most importantly the quick decision-making which he will learn. To me, he has been playing out of the world this year compared to the last two

I like mdz, always have...hitting 2 bars tonight is kind of sickening.

Easily could have had a hat trick tonight.. this loss was tough to stomach. First goal MDZ at fault but if anything that was more of Stu's fault.. that odd man rush should have never happened in the first place.

The kid makes one bad defensive play and suddenly all the progress he made this year goes out the window...

Im convinced each player on this team has a set number of detractors and naysayers, and that when each specific has a bad game or makes an error, they come out.

This board can never just be optimistic, not once. Its always doom and gloom, never "well we lost tonight, but this teams been resilient all season and we'll come out better for sure next game."

Honestly, give the kid a ****ing break.

"16-0 or bust!"

I said this once before in a different thread, but you'll find every single sports-based message board, especially a big one with a large collection of obsessed fans to be crazy. Happens in every sport.

Ha, crazy indeed.

It could be worse. We could be Cubs fans. Then again, I kinda feel that way with one cup in 72 years.

I follow college sports pretty closely-- the one place where true dynasties still exist and the head coach is the face of the franchise (program) and pretty much a cult hero/god. People routinely call for the heads of these guys after a single loss allllll the time. These minor meltdowns are nothing
