AA middle-infield prospect Ryan Goins got on base SIX times yesterday in one game - two singles, a double, three walks. LH hitter, can play a bit at short.

'Mountain Man' Mike McDade is showing signs of a good eye at the plate on the same team - with 16bb in 103abs, and reports have him having consistently good at-bats, seeing a lot of pitches. Needs more power though - just 7/34 extra-base hits.

That was his 3rd straight 3 hit night.

That's pretty wicked hot.

Me, I don't even remember ever getting on-base six times in one game of slo-pitch.

Michael Gary Scott 05-07-2012 04:32 PM

Anyone think that if morrow continues playing this way he could be our new ace?

Sounds like they're focusing on him making contact rather than power because he certainly has the power.

1st in homeruns in the Florida State League in 2010, won the home run derby last season in the Eastern League and he had the second(?) most strikeouts on the team last season. Sounds kinda like they don't want him to turn into an Adam Lind. :sarcasm:

Gose with another HR today

weems 05-07-2012 06:09 PM

Just when I thought Rasmus was turning a corner (2 HR game against KC) hes been really brutal since going something like 7 for 45 and now has a .210 BA with a crappy OPS.

He's a good CF'er but Im really starting to wonder if he can hit for any consistancy.

He won't find his swing as long as Murphy is teaching him how to hit.

His BABIP is also pretty far off from the norm. It seems like he's hitting the ball hard but there is always a defender in front of it. Pretty unlucky if you ask me.

I swear, that is like EVERY Jay right now. Kinda weird with the Jays right now. Pitching is getting really lucky but the batters are really unlucky.

I'll tack on some of the last few posts worth of discussion from the old thread in a minute. Just wanted to get things set first

Haven't been keeping up with the Jays this season, how does Lawrie look so far?

Hes hitting for a decent average but the power has been underwhelming.
Teams are pitching him way more selective and not throwing him many fastballs.
He looks really good defensively at 3RD imo.

All in all hes been alright but I would like to see him hit some more doubles and drive the ball more consistantly.

Apparently Arizona is possibly interested in either of JPA or d'Arnaud

"The Blue Jays are unlikely to trade either J.P. Arencibia or Travis d'Arnaud before the end of the season, as the Jays like Arencibia's game-calling and d'Arnaud's overall potential. Rosenthal cites the Diamondbacks as one of several teams interested in Toronto's catchers, which follows up on his report in March that the Snakes were looking at Arencibia. Arizona's interest would seem to indicate that the D'Backs are preparing a backup plan should they not be able to re-sign Miguel Montero.

This from Rosenthal

You do realize we're talking about the D'Backs, not the AAAstros? :dunno:

EDIT: Disregard that, you obviously didn't mean to post that

They have some real interesting prospects in their system. Not sure what they would be willing to move roster players or prospects but AA has worked with them before.
