Dale Hunter Stepping Down Today

According to Nick Kypreos on twitter.

"Dale Hunter will step down at noon today."

Langway 05-14-2012 11:10 AM

Confirmed:

@VogsCaps: #Caps GM George McPhee has announced that Dale Hunter has decided not to return as coach in 2012-2013, citing family reasons.

Carlzner 05-14-2012 11:10 AM

It's 10 past noon...

And wow... Okay.

CapsIntensity68 05-14-2012 11:11 AM

All the DC beats confirm 40 seconds later.

Learn from him, both good and bad. If they can keep the mental stability he instilled while implementing a system that utilizes their strengths (and/or allows them to dictate play on their terms) they could do some damage.

Capitlols 05-14-2012 11:12 AM

Wow.

Now here's a great opportunity to get a veteran coach.

Atlas 05-14-2012 11:12 AM

Interesting, if true. He did a great job with the thin personnel he had this year. He absolutely loves the Washington Capitals. My guess is he realizes something is amiss with McPhee at GM and even Ted at the top.

NeilYoung 05-14-2012 11:12 AM

Holy ****

CapsWolverinesUSA 05-14-2012 11:12 AM

I think this is good news, but damn I don't know where we go from here. What kind of coach do we look for?

Capitlols 05-14-2012 11:13 AM

Sky Kerstein ‏ @SkyKerstein
#Caps GMGM says Dale will be with them at the draft to help them out there

Ovechkins Wodka 05-14-2012 11:13 AM

wow. i thought he would be back for another season. Makes we think we missed a great chance this year even more

The same "thin personnel" that most members of the media picked to Win the East, if not Cup?

Hey Zeus ****ing Christo.

Yes.

amjay13 05-14-2012 11:14 AM

I am not sure how to react to this. I think I'd rather have him back for another year. The style isn't all that fun but I think the team made progress in a lot of areas under him.

Who are the options now?

Capitlols 05-14-2012 11:16 AM

Wish GMGM would announce his resignation.

There you have it....the greatest player in Caps history just made his feelings known about the state of the franchise by turning his back and walking away from this mess.

Fantastic Leonsis and McPhee....fan-friggen-tastic.

I will say I've been expecting this.

NeilYoung 05-14-2012 11:17 AM

Meh not great not bad, if the new coach is Ron Wilson though I might just give up

stanleycaps98 05-14-2012 11:18 AM

I am ok with this.

Hartley? Maybe tippet will magically become available, LOL.

What did Mike Gartner do too?

Carlzner 05-14-2012 11:18 AM

What an up and down year. Times when I absolutely hated Hunter, and times when I loved what he was doing.

An interesting year for sure, but one that ended with disappointment again.

Well, that's an interesting take. Completely wrong, but interesting I guess.
