So Rangers >>>>> Devils >>>>> Flyers>Penguins

Is that really what is happening in the Atlantic this year?

The Flyers were barely better than the Penguins.

The Devils demolished the Flyers.

The Rangers are doing to the Devils what the Devils did to the Flyers.

Are these teams that far apart or is it coaching coming through at the right times?

I think match-ups had a lot to do with.

I know I didn't want the Rangers to ever face the Pens in the playoffs.

Philly was a match-up nightmare for Pitt. Devils were a nightmare match-up for Philly. And I think the Rangers have a favorable match-up in the Devils - well at least compared to Ottawa and Washington who give us fits.

Who knows what will happen in this NYR/NJD series though. Far from over.

Obviously one game is just a sign of what is to come :sarcasm:

Good luck with this thread.

It's been one game. Let's hold off on the Rangers >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Devils stuff until this series has played out.

#66 05-15-2012 09:40 AM

IMO the Flyers have been beating down the Pens since Lavs took over.

Everything is about systems now. Like the Flyers can beat the Pens, the Pens can beat the Rangers but the Rangers can beat Flyers.

ShotDownCrosby 05-15-2012 09:40 AM

I probably would not jump to this conclusion after one game played in the third round.

Devils outplayed Flyers, Flyers out played Penguins. Rangers took advantage in the third, beyond that Devils were the better team.

Need more than one game. Maybe talk about this if the Rangers win the series.

Strong Island 05-15-2012 09:41 AM

More arrows please.

Dangleberry 05-15-2012 09:43 AM

Match ups man, match ups.

piqued 05-15-2012 09:44 AM

Yes, because the transitive property can be easily applied to sports.

Levitate 05-15-2012 09:45 AM

it's one game so far stop this stupid crap

Broad Street Elite 05-15-2012 09:46 AM

Let's remember, the Flyers looked like the better team in the New Jersey series after one game too.

Bob Richards 05-15-2012 09:47 AM

This is way too black and white. It's all about matchups. We match up very well with teams like Philly and NJ and extremely poorly against a team like Pitt.

compan 05-15-2012 09:50 AM

By this logic, wouldn't the Kings have more arrows, therefore be the better team and >>>> Rangers?

Unsure the actual way you can apply the transitive relationship between conferences, but it seems to work no?

JWells16 05-15-2012 09:51 AM

The transitive property doesn't really work in sports.

The Atlantic is more like a game of rock, paper, scissors. The Flyers are a nightmare for the Pens. The Pens are a nightmare for the Rangers. The Rangers are a nightmare for the Flyers.

The Devils and Isles play everyone tough.

Probably the best analogy I've seen. It really isn't as black and white as the title suggests.

lol seriously, jump the gun much? :shakehead

well since the rangers beat the devils in game one 3-0, theyll win the series.
kings beat phx 4-2, so theyll win as well, but since the rangers gave up less goals while scoring only one less, the NYR win the stanley cup over the kangs.
updated title to thread
rangers>>>>>>>kings>>>>Devils>>PHX>>>>Flyers>Preds >>Det>Pens...obviously

LetsG0Devils 05-15-2012 10:19 AM

False, Kings beat The Rangers the one game they had this season. So no way should they be ">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>" than them.

Devils beat The Kings in both games they had this season...even shut 'em out.

If The Rangers face The Kings for the cup, the Kings will win.

The Devils make it against them for the cup? Devils in 2.

This is the only post that needs to get some recognition. It's like everyone implemented a system to beat the team that they couldn't beat just 3 or 4 years ago.

Pretty much accurate. It's all match ups.

Mrpuck 05-15-2012 10:23 AM

It was one game, and the Devils looks great in the 2nd period.
Nice jinx thread though. :shakehead

proper animal 05-15-2012 10:25 AM

Can we please wait more than one game before starting threads about how much better the Rangers are than opponents? They won the first games against Ottawa and Washington, and we all know neither was an easy series. This is quite premature. It's a seven game series, not one.

I find I can stare at your avatar for minutes at a time.

Devilsfan118 05-15-2012 10:33 AM

One game, good job hf!

ChipAyten 05-15-2012 10:36 AM

If team A can beat B and B can beat C it doesn't necessarily mean A can then beat C. What's so hard about this notion for people to understand? As a NYR fan I believe if we played the Penguins in round one they would have beaten us and we would all be talking about how the NYR choked.

BonMorrison 05-15-2012 10:37 AM

So if I understand fully.

The Devils can beat the Flyers
and the Flyers can beat the Penguins
and the Penguins can beat the Rangers
and the Rangers can beat the Devils.

-mind explodes-
