NYR Viper 05-18-2012 12:33 PM

I totally agree. Which is why I hope they sign him.

Gatorade* 05-18-2012 12:37 PM

I suppose if he really likes the NY area and NJ can't sign him due to their financial problems it is a distinct possibility. I heard the cap will be 69M and I think that number will go higher with the Rangers and Kings going deep. That has to have increased revenues even more.

Blueblood 2 05-18-2012 12:41 PM

Yup. On the same page I see that Tom Renney got fired. GM wants a different level of compete...one that competes for a playoff spot...DUH!

Crease 05-18-2012 12:45 PM

No doubt I'd want him but would be weary of the price tag.

Timing is everything, J.P.

Inferno 05-18-2012 12:49 PM

PERFECT fit for the Rangers.

Sign Parise. Trade Dubi at the draft for a first.

Machinehead 05-18-2012 12:53 PM

Please don't kill the cap :help:

I'd like to keep our kids long term.

NyRangers88 05-18-2012 12:53 PM

Interesting this article came out in the middle of the two teams battling in the Conference finals

1Knee1T 05-18-2012 12:53 PM

I'd honestly be more excited than when we signed Richards.

Even better idea:

Sign Parise

Trade Dubinsky to Chicago for Beach + 1st '12

Hagelin/Kreider-Richards-Gaborik
Parise-Stepan-Callahan
Kreider/Hagelin-Anisimov-Beach
Rupp-Boyle-Prust

Also, just a note, Parise and Stepan train together over the summer. Natural chemistry? I think so! :naughty:

Add a Schultz contract and it might be the best offseason since the Gomez deal/Gaborik signing.

SnowblindNYR 05-18-2012 01:02 PM

Do you guys honestly think that a guy coming off a 10 goal season whose career high is 55 points is enough for a 1st round pick?

Now I would not argue for a second that I would rather have Dubi than Parise, BUT he does provide two things that you must consider in this deal:

1) Significantly bigger, harder hitting, and adds a presence to the top 6 (if he gets back to scoring a decent amount next year) that Parise does not.

2) Half the price than what Parise will require and the ability to retain all of our assets after next year when literally every talented, young player on the team will become a RFA.

That said, SIGN HIM SLATS!!!

In a draft like this one where most players after 20 are long-term projects and with so many teams having disappointing seasons I believe he could return a late 1st ala Mike Fischer to Nashville.

Paul Gaustad got a 1st as a rental. Vermette got a 2nd + 3rd. And I think there will be a market for him too.

I think we can do alot with Dubinsky in the market. There's always someone stupid. That's how we got McDongah for nothing.

I believe the Rangers will be able to keep whoever they want to after next year. They will eventually have to make decisions and in (2) years Gaborik is a UFA.

(1) That is why I want Beach added to the forward corps. He adds much more sandpaper and has a similar ceiling. Parise is not a soft player either.

This is why I don't want Parise or Dubinsky

“Zach likes Torts a lot,” J.P. said. “Zach knows how to work, he doesn’t shy away from the discipline part of it. He’d fit right in there.”

Leetch3 05-18-2012 01:14 PM

interesting...obviously we all already knew that he would fit this team perfectly 'like a glove' but pretty surprising to hear his dad said that

well obviously it would depend on the price (i'd try to get him for a deal similar to richards)...but when you think of it in terms of we tried to give up a bunch of assets for rich nash, the contract parise will get won't be that bad plus won't cost us anything...

I Am Chariot 05-18-2012 01:17 PM

Zach is represented by Newport Sports, the same agency that scored Brad Richards a nine-year, $60 million deal from the Rangers last July.
