So uh... Better than Brent Johnson?

ManInTheBox 05-26-2012 12:13 PM

Brent Johnson isn't shouldn't be coming back.

bathroomSTAAL 05-26-2012 12:18 PM

I'd take him solely to allow for liberal usage of "The Dominator," one of the best sports nicknames ever.

Rowdy Roddy Peeper 05-26-2012 12:19 PM

Just say no to Czech flake UFA drama.

Coach John McGuirk 05-26-2012 12:20 PM

This smacks of Brett Favre's ongoing dramas.

All we need is for him to text a pic of his Dominator and we'll be all set.

This guy can't have enough left to be better than an average NHL back-up goaltender. And we can certainly do without the drama.

He needs to mentor fleury.

then bring him on as a coach.

Darth Vitale 05-26-2012 02:24 PM

Exactly. At 47, no, he's not better than Brent Johnson. Not sure he's be a good coach either based on his unorthodox style.

McTank 05-26-2012 02:56 PM

Hate to burst your bubble but buffalo, detroit and tampa are the three teams he would like to go to

Yes, it's obvious everyone in this thread wants him

MetalheadPenguinsFan 05-26-2012 03:20 PM

Pass.

OnMyOwn 05-26-2012 03:34 PM

Oh no!!!!! My bubble!!!!!

TravisUlrich 05-26-2012 03:59 PM

I'll be interested to see if he makes it back. I don't see it being a huge risk to take him just because he can't possibly expect much more than the minimum at his age. At the same time, who says you can't be a good goalie at age 47? If you can stop a puck, you can stop a puck.

In any case, I'm intrigued.

:biglaugh:

Well played, sir. Well played.

JTG 05-26-2012 05:13 PM

Not sure how a 47 year old who hasn't played in the NHL in so many years can come back and be any good.

Jacob 05-26-2012 05:16 PM

Guess he needs money.

diligent_d 05-26-2012 07:17 PM

I'd be perfectly fine with it if he signed somewhere else.

Yeah, because that's totally what Hasek is renowned for - the fundamentals of the position.

Pigs On The Wing 05-26-2012 10:10 PM

Wasn't this rumor going around last off season too? If he's seriously coming back I don't want him.

after this playoff, we should be asking... better then MAF?

TravisUlrich 05-26-2012 11:35 PM

FWIW, he had the best Save% in the KHL two seasons ago and took his Czech team to a Championship the season before. And apparently he's a fitness FREAK which I wouldn't really put so much stock in except that he's a goalie, not a skater who'd have to battle anyone in the corner.

I'm skeptical but not going to dismiss it. I hope we get to see him back with somebody. He was the best goalie that I've ever watched when comparing goalies in their prime. Roy, Brodeur couldn't touch him.

OnMyOwn 05-27-2012 12:38 AM

I don't care how fit you are at 47...reflexes and endurance are pretty much shot. It's just how aging goes.

No offense to you older guys, of course.
