Engebretson 05-31-2012 03:41 PM

Sweet... loading up on the backstops.

Dr Jan Itor 05-31-2012 03:44 PM

Neat.

thestonedkoala 05-31-2012 03:44 PM

Huzzah! I wonder what the hold up was?

bozak911 05-31-2012 03:48 PM

This is one ELC that has "meh" come to mind...

Sure, he could be the next Lundquist... in 7 to 8 years...

Meh.

By that time, Nikko Hoivenen will be in the NHL and being the next Pekka Rinne and we didn't sign *him* to an ELC...

He should be in the AHL pretty soon. But he's putting up good numbers for a 20 year old. I'm kind of excited actually because he's shown a lot of talent.

Avder 05-31-2012 03:57 PM

Happy dance I guess?

Gustafsson Watch is over, I guess. :(

rynryn 05-31-2012 04:03 PM

wonder what the sticky point was...probably wanted him in the AHL while we shuffled up Hackett or Kuemper and he wanted to stay put?

Jarick 05-31-2012 04:08 PM

The rich get richer.

Pretty standard rookie deal for Gustafsson, who gets $67,500 if he plays in the AHL. ‪#mnwild

well we must have some sort of plan for him if we signed him. i don't think the market for goalies is that good so it couldn't be a trade, could it?

My bet is that he spends another season in Sweden...then comes over to Houston the following season.

With this signing I doubt Harding will be returning. Hackett could be the backup for next season.

...or the Wild sign a veteran back-up goalie and let Hackett get the majority of the starts in Houston.

I doubt this happens. The kid needs starting minutes in order to further his development.

or Hackett starts and Backstrom has to pump his tires.

as far as this signing i love it, i feel that Gustafsson is our 2nd best goalie prospect and that he has a really good chance to develop into a good NHL goalie with the right coaching.

i think the sticking point was the money he wanted tho, he is a 6th round draft pick and he got a 900k deal, that is what the hold up was but it shows that our upper management feels he's worth the price.

A $6 million back-up goalie? Not likely.
