Canadiens interested in signing Jagr

Canadiens interested in signing Jagr in July according to a Czech source.

Euroflyers has good information, and when he reports something, there is almost always something to it. I don't see Jagr wanting to go to Montreal, I think he wants to win, and Montreal isn't the place to do it.

Not sure Montreal is not thaaaat bad. They have a good D core, solid goaltender decent forwards they just need a good head coach and trim the fat(Gomez). Just maybe a down year.

Halifaxhab 06-04-2012 01:24 PM

They were interested last year. And LA has shown that it can happen anywhere

UniverStalinGraduate* 06-04-2012 01:26 PM

Well we know he's good buds with Plekanec so that's a start.

Would love to see this, as a habs fan. I'd be good with them overpaying him too. Since he'll only be looking for a 1 year deal anyways.

poetryinmotion 06-04-2012 01:28 PM

I would love Jagr!

Isn't this tampering ? Or could be considered tampering if he does sign ?

On a side note, does he have any kind of friendship with Kaberle ?

Psycho Papa Joe 06-04-2012 01:31 PM

I could see Jagr using the Habs as leverage in negotiations with a team he'd rather play for. I think the only way he's signs in Montreal is if no contenders are interested.

Didn't he play well with Plekanec's at the Wolrd's last year?

Yeah, they're good friends and seems to play well together. Last year it wasn't enough to get him to sign and I guess he didn't likeSpacegoat.

I would much prefer Jags in Montreal than in Philly:shakehead

CM Lundqvist 06-04-2012 01:36 PM

I could see this.

It's just a matter of what he has left in the tank at this point.

Well, Bourque got us 3 goals playing 2nd line left wing.

Playing with his friend, Plekanec might be enough for him to come back and pot 15ish.

I think it's safe to say that he would be at worst, the Habs 4th best winger, even if he doesn't have much left in the tank.

Mr Forever 06-04-2012 01:44 PM

Jagr should sign with the oilers.

Shoalzie 06-04-2012 01:45 PM

That doesn't mean he's interested though, right?

He'll sign with a contender...and the Habs aren't exactly a contender.

Habs 4 Life 06-04-2012 01:46 PM

My favorite player growing up(non Habs). If the Habs sign Jagr, wife isn't going to appreciate the money i'll be spending

At the moment but we don't know what happens in the next couple of weeks. And if it's his only offer, i'm sure he will take it

I like some parts of your team but you have some work to do...we'll see what the new guy can do filling the gaps.

A healthy Markov makes the habs a much better team.

That's the biggest question mark. Also, signing Jagr might make a bit of a difference.

If we sign him, we sign him. If we don't, then I don't care and I'm not going to call the guy a bunch of names for not signing here.

Kershaw 06-04-2012 02:08 PM

It isn't a normal offseason without the Canadiens being interested in signing Jaromir Jagr.

I don't see LA as the underdog story like we saw with Montreal in 2010. Simply put, they were picked by a lot of people to be a top team in the West.

They just finally came into form at the right time and are showing everyone how good they were.

Now, if it was Ottawa or Washington here in the finals, that would be an underdog coming through.

Leverage to get more money from a different team.

LyricalLyricist 06-04-2012 02:25 PM

Sure. This way when my team may suck a team can pay for him at deadline. If we don't suck, better! Win win.

This was the first thing that came to my mind.

beowulf 06-04-2012 02:34 PM

I'll believe it when he has signed on the dotted line. Until then it is nothing more then speculation.
