Chicago amongst Parise's probable destinations

Pierre Maguire on WFAN - Pittsburgh Chicago Detroit most likely for Parise if leaves NJ. Would be shocked if Zach goes across Hudson to NYR

Who is Dennis Bernstein?

It all depends on what the cap is at. Parise could have a reasonable cap hit, but he may require an 8 to 10-year deal to get the reasonable cap hit. It would be like an Ehrhoff deal except with a larger AAV. He would be unbelievable with us. I would take him in a heartbeat.

coldsteelonice84 06-05-2012 02:13 PM

Would be very, very, very nice. Not getting my hopes up though, would fall off my couch if I see this happen on July 1 though.

PP better be fixed, that's all I have to say. Parise is a great PP player.

Would LOVE Parise in Chicago. Don't count it as probable.

Let Leddy QB that ****.

We aren't signing Zach Parise for $8.5 million per year. The only way we get him is if he'll take like an eight to ten-year deal. Christian Ehrhoff's deal is a ten-year deal worth $40 million ($4 million AAV). Buffalo loaded the hell out of the front of that deal. In order to get Parise, stay under the cap, and still give yourself some flexibility for the future, it's going to take a deal like that. However, you won't have Parise for a $4 million cap hit per season. It'll be more like $6-6.5 million.

coldsteelonice84 06-05-2012 02:25 PM

67M/10 years, agree on the front loading, this would not be circumvention due to his age so just give him 12M in real money the first 3 years.

Cullksinikers 06-05-2012 02:28 PM

I have another crazy idea that would hinge on if we were able to get Parise. If we signed Parise for let's say nine years at $6.5 per, what about getting Staal out of Pittsburgh? I know they really like Sharp. They would also probably jump at Bolland with Saad and a pick attached alongside.

You could have one of these two lineups:

Parise-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Staal-Hossa
Stalberg-FA pickup (Moore?)-Shaw
Carcillo-Kruger-Bickell
Mayers, Hayes

or

Parise-Toews-Kane
Saad-Sharp-Hossa
Stalberg-Bolland-Shaw
Carcillo-Kruger-Bickell
Mayers, Hayes

coldsteelonice84 06-05-2012 02:32 PM

Meh, personally I'd rather just add Parise to what we have and see how we do before doing anything drastic trade wise.

Bubba88 06-05-2012 02:32 PM

If we get him I would start to freak out

Capgeek has the Cap for next year already with 70.3 million. Hjalmarsson & Frolik would leave us for sure

Parise-Kane-Sharp
Saad-Toews-Hossa
Stalberg-Bolland-Shaw
Carcillo-Krüger-Mayers/Bickell
Bickell/Mayers

Keith-Seabrook
Oduya-Leddy
Olsen-Montador

that looks sick

coldsteelonice84 06-05-2012 02:36 PM

Forwards look sick, D makes me sick. Still, best team since Cup year.

UsernameWasTaken 06-05-2012 02:37 PM

I'd love to sign both Parise and Suter...I can't imagine how we could possibly clear enough space for it...it's never going to happen. But, the improvement to the team aside, the freakout by the Red Wings fans would be awesome.

Cap isn't going to be $70 mil because of the new CBA. WE will be lucky if there is a season at all next year

BBSeabs27 06-05-2012 02:38 PM

Doubt this happens. Not going to be able to offer enough money.

sorry, but the Cap will go up for sure. Team will have a lot money to spend.
With a new CBA, the Cap would be rolled back to a lower number, but at first it will go up

There easily is enough money if it's more about the years to him. New Jersey can't afford to load the front of a contract. Parise could sign here for a reasonable AAV of around $6.5 million, but you have to make a commitment that could possibly near a decade.

TorMenT 06-05-2012 02:58 PM

As nice as it would be to have Parise added to our great core, without a huge raise in the cap, I don't see Parise joining the Hawks. Though we already know he's a great player, it's too much of a gamble to sign him to a contract for the length that he would need to be signed to make him affordable. I don't think Stan will want to create that big of a cap hit.

Maybe McD tells Bowman, find a way, can't live without a big signing at this current juncture. Then, it's up to Bowman to manage it from here on out, which is good, give him something to do.

Sarava 06-05-2012 03:01 PM

Pierre said the same thing the other day.

This isn't hard to see. Sign Parise and then send Kane to Florida for Huberdeau +.

Parise over Kane improves the team on its own. Then Huberdeau is #2 center and a potenial superstar himself.

If that all went down, then I'd be a big Stan Bowman supporter.

Desert Panther 06-05-2012 03:04 PM

Can't see this happening for the simple reason that it doesn't address your biggest need which is between the pipes. If Bowman is smart, he goes out and gets an upgrade in net before another bigtime forward. Crawford and Emery obviously aren't the answer.
