Ahah let's see this place implode

Soli 06-06-2012 01:20 PM

Waiting to hear the term.

One little hyphen removed and the emotional dial would be a complete 180. :D

If it's for more than one year, I'm done.

Hard to implode when it has been expected for awhile, but that doesn't mean I like it.

Vagabond 06-06-2012 01:22 PM

I would say that this is the season that draws the line in the sand. The Oilers don't significantly improve through firstly, the draft and secondly via UFA market... and or thirdly through the performance of the new coach and season.. Tambi is fired near the end of this up coming season.

Just my opinion.

Why would you expect it to be less than at least a 2-year deal?

SilverHaireDevil 06-06-2012 01:23 PM

My guess, 3 year deal.

Just prior to the draft they will tweet the return of Mac T, then this place really will implode. :P

Seachd 06-06-2012 01:25 PM

Yeah yeah that's great, but IS HE TAKING YAKUPOV!?!?

worraps 06-06-2012 01:26 PM

I love how they don't mention the term in the press release. God they are inept at communications. Probably a 2 year deal. If it is 3, I will be disappointed (and it has become hard for this team to disappoint me).

Because if I was as incompetent at my job as Tambo is at his, I'd probably be in prison.

Moonlapse Vertigo 06-06-2012 01:27 PM

If there's one thing the Oilers are good at it's inciting ridicule and scorn.

And it's much deserved.

hockeyaddict101 06-06-2012 01:28 PM

I am also betting on a 3 year deal.

I mean I'll be happy if Tambo agreed to just a one-year deal I just don't understand why he would agree to that if they were interested in bringing him back.

It'll depend on the term. If he's been re-signed to something like three years... then there's no chance of him being fired.

To be fair he was instructed to improve the team through the draft, and 3 1st overall picks certainly meets those criteria.

Can you Imagine how hard it would be to sit on your hands through the last three years when you have the power to change whats going on?

Having the power =/= having the intelligence.

Tambellini doesn't have any issues with sitting on his hands and doing nothing. It comes naturally to him.

SeriousBusiness 06-06-2012 01:33 PM

Surely it won't be for a term less than 2 years.

This thread should be fun to read as the day goes on.

copperandblue 06-06-2012 01:37 PM

No matter the term it will be disappointing.

If it's a 1 year term then you have to ask wtf the point is in extending somone that they clearly don't have confidence in. But obviously it won't be a 1 year deal.

If it's a 2 or 3 year term then it would appear that Katz is happy with his team being run into the ground. Way to set the bar high Darrell...

Booya42 06-06-2012 01:38 PM

Why are people upset over this?

We've known for a while now that he was being extended...

raab 06-06-2012 01:39 PM

Hmmm seems weird that it came out right around the same time that Dale Tallon re-upped in Florida. Maybe Edmonton was waiting to see if he'd become available, and if he did they'd let Tambo walk. Or maybe I'm looking to much into it.

Jepprey 06-06-2012 01:40 PM

Coaches get fired all the time no matter what the extension is or how many years remaining. If I was GM, if it made Tambi more comfortable, I'd sign him to his desired 3 years. I'd also fire him near the end of his first year of his extension if things did not improve significantly.. which has been done.

Mr Forever 06-06-2012 01:45 PM

We all saw this coming. Who cares.
