Jagr re-signs in Philadelphia, 1 year, 3M

According to Al Alven, who I'd never heard of until now. If it was someone more reputable, I'd put it as official, but I'll leave it as a rumor for now. It was on his Facebook.

Phillysportsspace (No I have no idea who they are) is presumably where Al Alven got it from they tweeted that it was a verbal agreement for the terms mentioned above.

Good for Jagr.

Obviously past his prime but he seems like a really good role model for the young Flyer players and he can still do some damage on offense.

Krishna 06-08-2012 05:21 PM

Wouldn't be surprised.. Though would have preferred 2m-2.5m

tuckrr 06-08-2012 05:26 PM

this a good deal for both sides.

lol ville Leino contract vs this...

SoupyFIN 06-08-2012 05:27 PM

Good for him. He belongs in the NHL.

He got like 50+ points..3M is more than reasonable, didnt he make 3.3 last year?

SeriousHabs 06-08-2012 05:30 PM

Great deal for a true beast. One more year of Giroux-Jagr beauty plays.

Spongolium* 06-08-2012 05:36 PM

Good deal. It was only his play on the ice that was valuable to the flyers last year. His entire work ethic was a fantastic boost for the team. Hartnell being a 30+ goal scorer again was also fantastic :D

Really? Whenever I saw the flyers play I thought he looked excellent, and just from a quick look at his stats, he had 53 points in the regular season, as well as 8 in 11 during the playoffs.

Bryzard of Oz 06-08-2012 05:39 PM

Definitely lacking credibility but I could see this deal going through. Good for both sides.

Al Alven used to write for this website, actually.

Bill Meltzer commented the other day about how other Flyers told management that they felt it was important that Jagr came back. I felt it was 70/30 he'd be back. Others felt this would get done by the draft

Flyerfan808 06-08-2012 06:00 PM

3M for one more year of Jagr is fair. I hope that figure includes bonuses for point production and games played.

Captain Hook 06-08-2012 06:52 PM

I can't stand the guy but he's still a good depth player and 3 million is fair. He also seems to have a lot of chemistry with Giroux. I guess it's hard to not have chemistry with a player like Giroux though.

Peter Griffin 06-08-2012 07:00 PM

Good, there should be no reason he should sign elsewhere really.

JVR21 06-08-2012 07:13 PM

$3M is definitely fair for his production, but I didn't like how he lost energy as the season progressed.

El Dandy* 06-08-2012 07:47 PM

The 1 year part makes me happy.

3 m is fair. Would have liked 2.5, but I wouldn't want 500k to come between us having/not having Jagr.

Ajaton Azer 06-08-2012 09:12 PM

Three million dollars is very reasonable payment for Jagr. Every party involved should be pleased.

Calacatz 06-09-2012 12:08 AM

Good signing! To put it in perspective we pay Colby Armstrong 3Mil in Toronto

Parise9Crosby87 06-09-2012 01:10 AM

he probably would had 60-65 point if he was healthy the whole season

I'm excited for next year, he seems really motivated and committed to doing BETTER next year.

(he's talked about losing weight and getting faster..maybe i'm just buying in, but I believe if he loses 20 lbs he's going to turn heads with how much faster he could be)

Stockholm Syndrome 06-09-2012 03:17 AM

Eh, I can dig it. Wish it were for a little less, but meh.

if true fair deal for both sides.

Oilmageddon* 06-09-2012 03:33 AM

I say his production increases this year to around 60 pts . He will be more re-adjusted back to the NHL games as well as his supporting cast around him are all trending up in their careers production wise.
