Line combo thread

Alright, i've done a million of them, here's what i got right now:

Latendresse-Koivu-Heatley
Bouchard-Granlund-Setoguchi
Cullen-Brodziak-Clutterbuck
Kassian/Johnson-Powe-Palmieri

(lines in Houston)
Zucker-Phillips-Coyle
D'Salvatore-Larsson-Bulmer

???-Gilbert
???-Scandella
Falk/Stoner-Spurgeon

Then Lats or Butch goes down, our guys on Houston have some time to get acclamated and are more ready to come up and contribute.

J22 06-10-2012 01:13 AM

I'm not sure Granlund starts the year at center, but if he does I can all but guarentee that Butch would not be one of his wingers.

Puhis 06-10-2012 01:19 AM

Dear God that 2nd line is softer than our mods.

I think Granlund-Bouchard would be a really good combination but they need a physical component there as well. Latendresse perhaps? He's a power forward with a good shot. That line could really do some damage...

If we are looking at 12-13, then I see it as following:

Heatley-Koivu-Granlund
Latendresse-Cullen-Setoguchi
Bulmer/Zucker-Brodziak-Clutterbuck
Veilleux/Larsson-Powe-Palmieri
Kassian

Scandella-Gilbert
Brodin-Stoner
Scandella-Spurgeon
Prosser/Falk

Bäckström
Harding

I really hope I'm wrong, but I don't see Bouchard coming back to NHL.

TaLoN 06-10-2012 01:19 AM

I think Larsson makes the NHL and possibly Brodin on D.

That's just cruel. Funny, but cruel. ;) But I agree that Granlund starts out with Koivu at first. That way big brother can protect little brother. More importantly, they didn't look too bad together at the WC.

rynryn 06-10-2012 01:23 AM

Granlund will play wing next season at least. I think that's almost a lock. I'd like to see him on the second line with Cullen and <blank> but a lot of people want him paired up with Koivu on the first line with Heatley to give him some familiar ground to stand on as he transitions. I can see their point. Either way, he'll play wing.

Good to see that we're finally stacked... on bottom 6, anyway.

We still lack that top line superstar, but I'm not sure we even need one to be honest. We can distribute our talent through the line-up and roll 3 lines that are an offensive threat AND won't be pushed around. And we have a 4th line, too, which we can mix up depending on the situation to use it either as a shutdown line or an energy/scoring line. Or just put Bulmer-Powe-Clutterbuck there and let Shanahan handle the rest. :biglaugh:

You know how messed up I am. I owe you roughly 10 million apologies with some flowers by now.

rynryn 06-10-2012 01:27 AM

out of all our promising prospects guys who's development would be hurt in the slightest from time in the bottom six are Larsson and Bulmer. I can see Larsson coming over and centering the fourth line if we fail to pick up the NHL talent Fletcher aims to add.

OpRedDawn* 06-10-2012 01:30 AM

Not sure about the top line, but I think Lats and Granlund would be epic together.

After seeing Fel get his ass handed to him in nearly every fight that breaks out in EASHL and imagining Gopher biking around town in his spandex pants and scarf, I wouldn't say these guys are the toughest dudes in the block.

Don't take me wrong though, I love 'yall. ;)

Fel 96 06-10-2012 01:30 AM

X2. Love all the mods. And that's not sarcasm. Actually, consider me picking on people a compliment and sign of respect. Sarcasm = Love. If I hated ya, I wouldn't even bother.

No, it's because I'm scared of you. I've seen you drop the gloves. ;)

Sportsfan1 06-10-2012 01:35 AM

Alright, then how about this:

Granlund-Koivu-Heatley
Bouchard-Jokinen-Setoguchi
Lats-Cullen-Clutterbuck.

Hehehe ;)

Fixed. :D

Bookman 06-10-2012 01:40 AM

I think you need to have Heatley-Latenresse and Bouchard-Granlund on seperate lines. Spread out the playmakers and shooters.

Granlund - Koivu - Heatley
Lats - Cullen - Seto
Bulmer - Brodziak - Clutterbuck
Vayoo - Veteran Center - Powe
Kassian (For games we think somebody might consider touching Granlund)

Gilbert - Suter/Carle/Wideman/Trade <<<There will be a new top pairing d-man
Scandella - Stoner
Spurgeon - Brodin/Falk/Prosser

I think Brodin stays with the NHL club, but is brought along slowly...
he'll rise in that pairing pretty quickly. If my Prediction of a new top pairing guy is accurate... One of the other D-men is getting traded. (or perhaps Falk will be allowed to walk? Isn't he an RFA?

Billy Mays Here 06-10-2012 03:33 AM

I'm gonna assume Lats is re-signed but Butch isn't ready to go. Lats has stated that he likes to play the right side.

Heatley - Koivu - Lats
Granlund - Cullen - Seto
Larsson - Brodziak - Clutter
Kassian - Powe - Johnson

Scandella - Gilbert
Brodin - Spurgeon
Stoner - Prosser
Falk

Backs
Harding
