Not big surprise: #Sjsharks have acquired rights to D Brad Stuart from DET for conditional draft pick. If he doesn't sign, DET gets nothing.

Nice!

USF Shark 06-10-2012 03:03 PM

I approve

VP and GM 06-10-2012 03:03 PM

well, we've all seen this one coming. Hope we can sign him.

KpopandHockey 06-10-2012 03:03 PM

Cool, wonder what pick.

OffSydes 06-10-2012 03:05 PM

I thought he wanted to sign here anyways.. whats the point of wasting a pick?

cholewhat 06-10-2012 03:05 PM

Just got the Sharks text. Also says Andrew Murray was thrown in Detroit's way.

speculation!

Sad to see Stuart go. He's been a rock for the Wings on defense the past few years. He wasn't good in the playoffs this year, but I don't think his heart was in Detroit.

Still good defensively, eats minutes on the PK, but prone to the occasional blunder.

dwood16 06-10-2012 03:08 PM

So..... we are giving up a draft pick and A. Murray just for the right to talk to Stuart before he is an official free agent in a few weeks or whenever it is.. Right?

If Stuart does sign with #Sjsharks, they give up 7th-round pick down the road.

sjshark91 06-10-2012 03:13 PM

Lame, I wanted the Seattle Sharks.

drunksage 06-10-2012 03:13 PM

Oh a trade just for rights? I guess I'll hold off on wearing the Sharks gear again just yet.

Eid Ma Clack Shaw 06-10-2012 03:14 PM

Don't mind this. Murray was probably gone and a 7th round pick if we sign him is not much considering how many the Sharks seem to always have. Hopefully he signs for cheap.

Aren't we at the contact limit? So we HAD to send someone back and Murray's a UFA too...

They probably also wanted to get him and sign him before the draft so they're in a better position to wheel and deal...

VP and GM 06-10-2012 03:15 PM

We sign him it means he'll replace D. Murray who will be moved as part of a package or pick/prospect. It's possible, but less likely that Braun/Demers could get moved, doubt it as they have cap friendly salaries.

Arkansas Shark 06-10-2012 03:15 PM

Nice!

So hopefully Colin White can peace out?

sjshrky27 06-10-2012 03:15 PM

glad to see this, but why did DW give up anything for Stuart? Dude made it clear he wanted to come back to SJ.

Wonder if DW has something else up his sleeve (NASH...)

If he was truly gonna sign here anyway, this was a stupid ass move.

If DW thought another team was planning on offering him a huge contract.... it's still ****ing stupid. Let the team shoot themselves in the foot by overpaying for an average (at best) dman. That's one less team to worry about having cap room.

You shouldn't just give away draft pick, ever. Imo.

CommanderShepard15 06-10-2012 03:16 PM

future 7th and a guy who wouldnt be resigned to ensure stuart signs here is smart in my books.
