First!

:sarcasm:

For the record, I've never actually looked at this thread lol

yakitate304 06-13-2012 10:58 AM

I'm only 3 chapters into the first A Song of Ice And Fire book and it's already fairly different than the show. It makes it hard to read because I've seen the episodes so many times that I have it set in my mind what each scene is "supposed" to be like, and then the small details in the book are quite different or jump out at me.

Kill Bill just has an incredible soundtrack, this is probably the new favourite though.

Getzo5 06-13-2012 07:04 PM

To quote myself from the previous thread "Tarantino movies have the best soundtrack. It is known". :sarcasm:

I highly recommend David Bowie - Cat people/Billy Preston - Slaughter (Inglourious Basterds) or The Coasters - Down in Mexico (Death Proof).

This might be worth a look.

FirmestPiano 06-13-2012 07:32 PM

Ha! "you know nothing" :sarcasm:

All Excellent choices. Going to stick with the Kill Bill soundtrack for a while now, could listen to it for ages.

Flight seemed pretty interesting considering the actors/director. Could be worth a watch, Nov 2nd though, ugh.

Edit: February 1st in Sweden actually, got damn it.

Richer's Ghost 06-13-2012 09:55 PM

Ok, just watched Hangover II. Movie pretty much sucked as a clone rip off but the end credits got me howling with this scene. Just wondering how many of you made the connection on the gag?

Dark, but funny.

Saugus 06-13-2012 10:14 PM

That is very dark. I don't think I watched the credits when I saw it in the theatre, so I had never seen that before.

Richer's Ghost 06-13-2012 11:26 PM

Was watching with the wifey and when that shot by I went "whoah, wait a minute! Did you see that?" had to rewind the DVR and go back to make sure I saw what I think I saw and paused on it and sure enough - yep, they went there. LOL

She didn't get it, nor did I expect her to but I google image searched "vietnam execution" and nothing but that image popped up and I said that was both pretty clever and ballsy at the same time. I'm guessing maybe 10% of folks got it.

Saugus 06-13-2012 11:31 PM

That reminds me of the cultural references they used for the dick drawings in Superbad. I'm sure very few people got all of them.

Richer's Ghost 06-13-2012 11:37 PM

great, now I'm gonna have to go watch Superbad for the 8th time.

*shakes fist*

*not really, I love that movie* LOL

Ripshot 43 06-14-2012 10:18 AM

Watched John Carter. Now I know why it bombed in theaters but I had to see for myself.

Then I watched the Grey. Besides Liam it was boring and it felt like it took forever for it to end. Speaking of the end.... Horrible.

cj225 06-14-2012 10:22 AM

Why does TV suck in the summer?!?

yakitate304 06-14-2012 10:24 AM

I actually liked The Grey. The "freefall into trees" scene took some suspension of disbelief, but on the whole I enjoyed it. I thought the ending kicked ass and was very appropriate, although...

Spoil:
There is actually a "true" ending after the credits, just a few seconds where it shows Neeson won the fight and is checking the pulse of the big wolf, just like he did earlier in the film. While I appreciate the callback to that previous scene, I think it would have been better to just leave it ambiguous as to what happens to Neeson.

Game of Thrones ended, leaving a month without good TV before Breaking Bad returns. Not sure if you watch either of them, but they're both incredible shows.

Getzo5 06-14-2012 10:26 AM

Because you should spend more time outside.

Because actors have a life too.

Because it`s the Cup.

Definitely just wasn't my type of movie. The parts I didn't enjoy that one might we're the more "artistic" parts where Liam is quoting something or particularly the ending where they were looking for a discussion point for the viewer, rather than give you an actual ending with an action scene. Just not my cup of coffee and I didn't get that from the previews.

Do I have to pay to have the channels those are on?

Game of Thrones is on HBO (and the internet - it's the most pirated show of alltime, apparently)...

Breaking Bad is on AMC, which you should have.

Been thinking about GoT and ratings and such. Does anyone know how GoT compares to other popular shows from the past/present in regards to ratings? How "BIG" and popular is it really?

Saugus 06-14-2012 11:18 AM

Not surprising that GoT is the most pirated. Insanely popular show with limited access, of course it will be pirated.
