Good for Texas

Heika reporting it on his Twitter account as well.
Also says the Stars search for replacement for Willie is ongoing.

Good for Texas, good for Willie, good for our group of prospects who are coming in next year.

One rumor out there for Willie's replacement is Dave Lowry, who was coaching in Calgary last year.

Yeah, good decision. Also, nice to see Willie doesn't see this as a reduction to a lower rank. He gets more experience (in leading the coaching there) and gets to know our prospects better. I bet there'll still be a close connection between Willie and Gully in form of continuous prospect reports etc.

Good move. Nice to finally have some consistency between the two organizations.

Very interested to see who'll take his spot though. Hopefully someone who knows what they're doing on the PP.

Great move by the Stars I think. Willie has to put in 2 or 3 years of good work at the AHL level and I think he'll be offered a head coaching job with some other organization pretty quick if things go well. :)

So if I remember correctly his WHL Medicine Hat Tigers teams were known for their defensive structure and work ethic, I think we can all agree that the Texas Stars need to get back to that style of play so this should be a good fit.

I approve of this. They need structure and guidance down there with all the new kids. Willie's background as a Juniors' coach can only help communication as players learn what to expect. I also think this makes way for Willie to be the next Dallas Stars head coach when Gultzan fails. (I think that's likely if the roster doesn't have significant turnover, moreso than demonizing his coaching ability.)

Really happy with this.
