Will Quick win the Vezina?

Does anybody know the over/under on this situation? Ten shut-outs is nothing to sneeze at.

Thanks!

ScoreZeGoals 06-13-2012 02:13 PM

I think Lundqvist wins it rather easily, although I hope I'm wrong. Honestly Quick deserves the Vezina and the Hart this year

TwzKing 06-13-2012 02:13 PM

Not a chance

SLang 06-13-2012 02:14 PM

Nope, I think Lundqvist has it. Next year, though......:)

bobafettish* 06-13-2012 02:16 PM

its gonna be awkward when lundqvist gets it when everybody knows quick should have gotten it.

jonrazor12 06-13-2012 02:18 PM

King Henrik will likely win it due to the east coast bias. Its actually a shame because not only was Quick the best goalie during the regular season but he was obviously the mvp and should win the hart. IMO, Quick's season should go down as one of the best in history by any player. Unfortunately it won't though. But he deserves the vezina and hart.

DAkings20 06-13-2012 02:21 PM

nope

FrozenKing18 06-13-2012 03:00 PM

Henrik will win it.

alphaql8er 06-13-2012 04:45 PM

Maybe if they voted after the playoffs

Sydor25 06-13-2012 04:49 PM

Quick will not win the 2012 Vezina. Besides, he won the only trophy that matters. :D

Fatty 06-13-2012 04:51 PM

When pigs fly

Brodeur 06-13-2012 04:53 PM

It's tough because the GMs vote on it. It's not unusual to see it (seemingly) broken down by conference lines. There was the year when Brodeur/Nabokov were the two frontrunners:

Might just be a pure coincidence, but you have 16 first place votes for Brodeur and then 14 first places votes between Western goalies Nabokov/Kiprusoff.

Wouldn't be inconceivable that the Western GMs might have been split between Quick/Rinne.

Quick won the hardware that matters. I can't even remember which years Brodeur got the Vezina, but I sure as heck remember the Cup years.

Negative. But Quick definitely just cemented his candidacy for years to come. Fair or not, some of these awards in part are based on having a resume of past accomplishments, than what you did during the actual season. I'm not saying that Henrik isn't deserving, because he is. But I would not be surprised if the voting isn't even close in Lundqvuist's favor.

Next year, Henrik's resume doesn't compare to Quick's. When you win the Conn Smythe, the nation is forced to take notice. Henrik was a little better in the playoffs than his regular season. In the playoffs, Quick's numbers destroyed Henrik's. In the entirety of the 2011/2012 season, Quick was the best goaltender in the NHL, bar none. I will say Henrik's Hart nomination was a total joke. But in the end, the Kings and Quick have the hardware that matter. There isn't anyone out there who would recognize Lundqvuist as the better goaltender today. It's like the Blues fans who keep saying that Pietro is a better player than Doughty because of his regular season and that what Drew did in the Playoffs doesn't overshadow Pietro's regular season. Well, yeah...yeah it does. Drew has a resume that Pietro doesn't. Drew was the most dominant defender of the playoffs and it ain't even close. Anyway, I was all over the place on this post, but Quick won't win it. Not this year.

Rorschach 06-15-2012 12:12 AM

I think his solo Hart nomination, the only one for a goalie this year, pretty much seals the Vezina for him.

I would love to be totally wrong though. Now that Quick already won the Conn Smythe and will have his own statue next to Wayne's (according to Tim!) I no longer have a need to root against him for the Vezina. He will be paid and that is that.

DaAnimal 06-15-2012 12:15 AM

Should Quick win the Vezina? Absolutely

Will he win it? Most likely not. Lundy will.

If Quick wins, then holy crap, the league has certainly changed for the better. And I hope to God Quick will win it.

Puck U 06-15-2012 12:21 AM

The way OUR year/season is going ? YES he wins it :D HA !

Ziggy Stardust 06-15-2012 12:30 AM

I said this to Rangers fans around April. Lundqvist may win the Vezina but Quick is going to win the more important trophies. And lo and behold ;)

KingsCorona 06-15-2012 01:33 AM

Quick deserves both the Vezina and the Hart, but I don't think he'll get either. I'd love to be wrong, but there were too many people swinging from Lundy's nuts before the Kings steamrolled to the SCF and people started realizing how amazing he is. Also, few people seem to have noticed how pivotal he was in the Kings making the playoffs at all, considering how terrible our offensive struggles were during much of the season.

Oilmageddon* 06-15-2012 01:50 AM

You greedy Kings fans don't you have enough trophy's this year:sarcasm:

Wait for next year. Stanley Cup (La Kings), Vezina (Quick), Norris (Doughty), Conn Smythe (Brown), Selke (Kopitar) :sarcasm:.

When Lundqvist was announced as a Hart nominee and Quick wasn't, I think that told everything we need to know about how the Vezina voting will go.

They don't as to avoid situations like this where voters could be influenced by wrecking **** in the post season like Quick did.

This. It's all Hanks.

damacles1156 06-15-2012 03:06 AM

The Vezina is a reg season award, which I view as not that important.

Quick won the Trophy's that matter, the Big one Stanley, and the playoff MVP.

Since they're voted on by different groups of people, I don't know how much stock I put in that, but like Brodeur up there said, I think it can get split along Conference lines a bit. There's 2 Western goalies and 1 Eastern goalie as the finalists, so I have to think that the probable outcome is that the West GMs mainly got split between Quick and Rinne and the East GMs mainly voted Lundqvist.

Thanks!

The difference between Henrik and Quickies is HUGE. Henrik saves pucks, but not his team from choking. Quickies saves pucks, saves his team from choking AND saves kids from choking!

Henrik has it bagged up. But Im okay with that because he really respects Quickers. I think they made a bit of a friendship at the All-Star bash.
