Good to hear. Hamilton will be very fun to watch this coming season.

Fel 96 06-14-2012 01:38 PM

Is it an ELC if he signed 2 years?

I thought ELC's were 3 years.

Habitants 06-14-2012 01:38 PM

Great! I really like all the new additions to Hamilton. there will be a good group of fresh prospects to grow together!

WeThreeKings 06-14-2012 01:38 PM

Awesome!

I was really hoping this would happen. When he was drafted Timmins said he was very green. Let us hope he can develop a physical game and adapt his offensive touch to the pro game.

overlords 06-14-2012 01:39 PM

Excellent! was always a fan of his!

Habs 4 Life 06-14-2012 01:39 PM

Hamilton just keeps on getting better. We should Email RDS and have them televise a few games

Depends on the age. I believe if the player is 21 or 22, he can only sign a 2 year ELC deal.

Never seen the Habs this busy...feels like there's an announcement or 2 every day.

So 8 prospects coming into Hamilton now, this will be pretty cool.

ChoseLa 06-14-2012 01:44 PM

Let's hope Kristo is next.

Watsatheo 06-14-2012 01:45 PM

I think this would be the second player the Habs drafted in 2008 to get signed. The first? Jason Missiaen with the Rangers.

Marc the Habs Fan 06-14-2012 01:48 PM

Trying to make lines for Hamilton gave me a headache though. So many candidates:

Could be in the NHL or back on the farm:

Blake Geoffrion
Louis Leblanc
Aaron Palushaj

Arriving:

Steve Quailer
Brendan Gallagher
Michael Bournival
Patrick Holland

Still under contract:

Alexander Avtsin
Alain Berger
Gabriel Dumont
Philippe Lefebvre
Joonas Nättinen
Ian Schultz

RFAs

Andrew Conboy
Hunter Bishop (Serious non-tender candidate)
Andreas Engqvist (Perhaps back to Sweden?)
Olivier Fortier (non-tender candidate)
Danny Massé (non-tender candidate)
Robert Slaney (Serious non-tender candidate)

Plus with such a young team adding a quality veteran is a must.

UniverStalinGraduate* 06-14-2012 01:51 PM

Marc apparently Enqvist has signed with a Swedish team, or is about to.

ChooseLA, Kristo is going back to school so won't sign until next year. If he signs that is.

I've been so intrigued by Quailer for a while now! This is awesome news!

Habs had no first pick and their second pick was pretty low (#56) + they only had 5 picks. Expectations can't be too high.

If Kristo and Quailer reach the NHL, it's a good draft. Trunev, Missiaen were longshots anyway. Patrick Johnson was just a random pick (small and not very skilled).

Anyway, I'm happy that Quailer has finally signed. Hopefully he can develop into the power forward we expected him to be.

Crimson Skorpion 06-14-2012 01:53 PM

Always been a fan of Quailer. Really happy for him and now I am REALLY looking forward to the Bulldogs' upcoming season. Man, is that's a Calder Cup calibre team or what?

Looks great on paper, but it still needs some vet blood in there to keep it honest. Very excited.

Based on potential alone, I'd say it's a possibility. But we'll also need to bring in a solid vet (guys similar to Brian Willsie last year) or two.

Marc the Habs Fan 06-14-2012 01:58 PM

Plus it's possible our 2012 1st rounder and Kristo could join the team for their playoff run in April/May...

Crimson Skorpion 06-14-2012 02:02 PM

Scott Gomez would make an excellent vet to help the boys out. :sarcasm:

Is it? Are there any going in the top 5 with late enough birthdays to go straight to the AHL after 1 more year of Junior? The only one I think that could come to the AHL is Forsberg because the CHL rule doesn't apply to him. As for Kristo, he'll find a reason to not join any run the dogs have. A keg stand tournament or something.

Player 61 06-14-2012 02:05 PM

With Tinordi also The Dogs will be a powerhouse in the AHL this season, that's if Montreal doesn't raid the roster to much...

Beerbeerhockey 06-14-2012 02:09 PM

Pretty happy about this signing, I was hoping they would sign him.

the Dog's should have a good team this season.

donghabs98 06-14-2012 02:10 PM

This is great to hear

the dogs are a must watch next year

Only Forsberg or Teravainen could join and Kristo if North Dakota doesn't make the Final Four.ND has Jordan Schmaltz signed for next season which will give their team a huge boost on defence.Quailer is going to be a great addition for Hamilton,he would look good on a line with Holland and Gallagher.

Myron Gaines* 06-14-2012 02:13 PM

Meh, alright prospect.

Happy to hear that, he'll be turning 23 in August so playing a 4th year NCAA wasn't needed IMHO.

I'd like to see Kristo signed next, same situation, he's going to be 22 on Monday and has nothing left to prove NCAA.

... But next year !

he just repeated what he had in mind a couple of days ago. He wants to finish his College and become a better player. Timmins is cool with that decision.
