Jakob Silfverberg
Hey guys, Isles fan coming in peace. Hope all is well with everyone. Just wondering if you guys could give me a little info on Silfverberg. I keep hearing rave reviews about him and how he's arguably your best prospect. Just wanna know what you see in him; #1C or #2C, scoring potential, role etc. Thanks in advance.

He's a winger :)
And he's being seen as a future top 6 winger, possibly as soon as this season. |
He's a guy who was drafted for his overall 2-way game moreso than any elite scoring ability, but since being drafted has really broken out of his shell offensively. He won the SEL MVP award this year, and the SEL Playoff MVP, and was the youngest to do so since Petr Forsberg.
He looks like a guy whose absolute ceiling can be a 1st line winger who is also defensively responsible, but a safe bet are he becomes a poor man's Loui Eriksson. He could also bust of course, like any other prospect, but the talent level he showed in his 2 games in the playoffs this year, considering he was only 3 days removed from a lengthy SEL playoff run (in which they won the league title) and had never played in Coach Maclean's system before, leaves us with a REALLY positive vibe of what he can do this year with a proper training camp, rest, and plenty of time to learn the nuances of our system here. He may not have the highest ceiling (Zibanejad might have a higher ceiling), but he's probably the safest of all of our picks. He seems like a guy who is almost guaranteed to be a top-6, defensively responsible winger. Time will tell, but that's the best bet. |
He's built on smarts and skill and will be a top line winger, a top PP guy who you can build a line around like a Zetterberg type. He can play both LW and RW and will probably be a player that gets moved arund the top 6 a lot because he is smart enough to play a scoring role, a 2 way game or be a guy that skates for miles and miles for your team and carries the puck into the attacking zone and builds the offense.

Basically what they said ^. But one thing no one has mentioned yet is that Silf has an absolutely unreal shot. He is a pure sniper in that sense. You can't even see his shot when he gets a good release off. You just see it on its way back out of the net. I'm sure after a few years in the league he will be very well known for his shot/release.

I dunno why the OP said "Isles Fan coming in peace".
I got no beef with Isle Fans :dunno: Should I? |

Hate Spezza and Chara? Still angry at Billy Smith for slashing Gretzky? Do those godawful uniforms from the 90's haunt your dreams? |

Andre Petersson has the best shot in the organization. Jakob Silfverberg has the best release in the organization. Signed, Jared Staal is the best of the Staal brothers. |

Actually, Jared Staal does have a good slapshot.
But so does my friend Kevin. Kevin teaches graphic design. |

http://pics.classicauctions.net/clas..._760_63695.jpg It is their new alternate jersey that I don't care for, I like the layout but I hate the arched text logo and the number on the front. |

Just sayin'. |

After the '95-96 season (the above jersey), they realized they messed up by changing the logo, and brought back the old one... but put them on a newer jersey for two seasons, before completely going back to the old scheme after 1998. One of my favorite "ugly" jerseys of all time: http://www.gamewornauctions.net/imag...8_evgeny_k.jpg |
The teal was a trendy colour choice and not an Islander colour. Better w/o the teal.

Still waiting for Kevin to chop a pic of Jared Staal shooting a slapshot with the old Isles jersey on.
