Winnipeg Jets-Columbus Blue Jackets

To Winnipeg:

Ryan Johansen
2nd pick in 2012

To Columbus:

Tobias Enstrom
Bryan Little
9th pick in 2012

Viqsi 06-15-2012 12:22 PM

#1: Trading any two of Nash/2nd overall/Johansen in a single deal requires that the Jackets become an instant playoff contender. That ain't happenin' here.

#2: I love Enstrom more than is probably healthy, but his contract status is a tad awkward for us as is his skillset (which is potentially redundant with other defensemen). I'd gladly go for him, but not in this kind of deal.

Possible counter (been discussed elsewhere among CBJ fans): Enstrom + Bumistrov + 9th overall for Nash + 45th overall?

Doubt WPG wants that contract.

If Johansen and the 2nd are going to Winnipeg, Kane has to be a starting point for the return, I think.

Don't want Nash with his big contract, how about Enstrom + Little + 3rd round pick for Johansen + David Savard

Kev22 06-15-2012 12:32 PM

I guess my question is why would Columbus make this deal? They are potentially giving up all the best assets in the deal. Doesn't make any sense.

The Jackets are getting Enstrom 50-60 point D-man.

**** no.

Which is not enough for the #2 overall and Johansen.

But is he worth the second pick and Johansen. If just for the second pick, maybe, but for both, no.

We really want to make a trade with Jackets and be the 3rd team involed in a 3 team deal for Nash(don't want Nash on Jets but someone else).:naughty:

It could be a three way deal.

Even if it's a three way deal, unless Columbus gets significantly better in the deal, why would they do this? Who would the third team be? My comments were based on the OP.

No way in heck would I want the Jets to make your deal.

Enstrom is the best player in the deal. He's an upcomiing UFA, but he is the best player. Little is also better than Johansen right now. Johansen may become better than Little, and he might not.

Was the original OP altered? What about Little and the 9th?

That is A LOT of value going to Columbus. I can see Columbus not liking it from a age/contract situation, but IMO from a value perspective Winnipeg is sending more than I would want for those 2 pieces.

Enstrom (1 year til UFA) + 9th is an overpayment for the 2nd, but not by much.

Johansen is significantly more valuable than Little.

Horrible trade.

From a point view it may be, but a NHL GM will proably view it as a good trade. With Enstrom and Little there is a lot of value going the Jackets way.

:amazed: :biglaugh:

Hon, you do not want to know what the price for those two would be. Really. You don't.

We've already got Wisniewski and JMFJ. Not that Enstrom isn't awesome, but there are certain redundancy issues to consider. :)

There is, but given the assets we're giving up, it's kind of awkward.

The problem is that our biggest roster need is right wingers, and IIRC the same is true of Winnipeg. That makes finding a good fit problematic.

...but not as much value as is going from Ohio to Manitoba...

A Jets GM might view it as a good trade, but from a neutral perspective, it isn't very good for Columbus, particularly considering the likelihood that Enstrom leaves after the year.

Mayor Bee 06-15-2012 01:09 PM

Replace Little with Burmistrov and it might get consideration. Little had the big year in 2008-09, but hasn't done much since.

Not to say that he won't break through, but it seems less likely...at this point, he's about as valuable as Brandon Dubinsky.

I think you're understating Little's value, but I wouldn't think that would be enough either.

Counter:

Johansen
2012 2nd overall

for

Kane
9th overall

I wouldn't do that...I'd be looking at one of Burmistrov or Enstrom plus 9th overall to move up to 2nd.

Columbus has three big assets right now (Nash, Johansen, 2nd overall), and I'm strongly opposed to moving two in one deal unless there's a ton coming back.

The reason for this Proposal was because Ryan Johansen an Evander Kane would make a good wing and center. If you trade one for the other, it does not make sense.

That to hefty of a price to move up.
