Flyers into Shea Weber

Eklund saying that the Flyers maybe onto Shea Weber and Ryan Suter.

"I have heard rumor of Flyers/Preds possible deals... one of which could would send JVR, Voracek, Bourdon, and the Flyers next two first round picks".

Also Bruins in on Nash.

Eklund does have legit sources in philly....

Prongo 06-17-2012 11:17 PM

Do want do want do want do want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would give up anything on the roster besides Giroux. Couts and Schenn would be available, just of course not together in a deal I would think.

NoNecksCurse 06-17-2012 11:20 PM

voracek+jvr+bourdon+2 1sts ... thats alot more than philly fans said they'd give up

I would in a heart beat

The Fear Boners 06-17-2012 11:21 PM

I'm not sure Holmgren knows what hes doing anymore.

Fixed to Ruin 06-17-2012 11:22 PM

Flyers and Nashville have a history when it comes to off-season trades.

petipas1414 06-17-2012 11:27 PM

steep price to obtain a priceless piece. i like it

Clancy 06-17-2012 11:27 PM

IF Weber only has interest in a 1 year deal, this makes a lot of sense for the Preds to consider a trade before that contract is signed and they can get full trade value for him. You announce a 1 year deal and GMs start looking at how many bags of cash they can throw at him in 2013 Free Agency. It would also be a good showing for Suter and could convince him to stay.

Petes2424 06-17-2012 11:27 PM

Shea Weber is going nowhere this off season.

Boondock 06-17-2012 11:27 PM

I can't see The Preds not getting an NHL ready Dman back unless they have a replacement deal already agreed upon which seems unlikely. If they lose Weber and potentially Suter they would be going into next season with a D group of Klein, Josi, Blum, Ekholm, Ellis and a FA. I have a hard time seeing that as the plan.

The Bored Man 06-17-2012 11:27 PM

Every team in the league is interested in Shea Weber.

NoNecksCurse 06-17-2012 11:29 PM

weber is the number 1 defenseman in the NHL. if philly wants him, the price will be through the roof like the rumored package. philly should be thankful if couturier or schenn aren't involved...

TorontoTrades 06-17-2012 11:30 PM

it may seem like a lot to give up but if it means getting Sutter too its peanuts.

Voracek seems to be really loved by Philly in his year with them but gotta give to get.

Would be a huge move for Philly.

Krishna 06-17-2012 11:31 PM

Yes please

edit : what about subtracting Voracek and adding Schenn to get another winger in the deal?

hockeyfreak7 06-17-2012 11:34 PM

I'd do it as long as we make the right moves through free agency. Giving up two top six forwards and not getting one back would hurt.

Fro 06-17-2012 11:36 PM

it would be huge for Philly if they could swing this...guessing if it goes down though that pretty much confirms that pronger is on LTIR and pretty much done?

Hartnell - Giroux - Jagr (assuming they resign him)
Shenn - Briere - Simmonds
Talbot - Couturier - Read

still a strong top 9 with Voracek and JVR removed.

Yep, that's exactly what I'd like. It would probably spell the end of Carle or Meszaros, though.

I could see Meszaros being part of a Weber trade.

The interesting thing is that the salary for JVR and Voracek (roughly 7-7.5M) nearly offsets Weber and reduces the need to resign Carle. The Flyers could keep Mezsaros as a number 5, pair him with a Gustffson/Manning/Lilja and still have a good chunk of cash to upgrade their offense.

Doubt it happens, but it's amusing to consider in the so far quiet lead-up to the draft.

King Forsberg 06-17-2012 11:50 PM

Doesn't Nashville need a center?

ZetterBurger 06-17-2012 11:56 PM

Won't happen. e5

Not really - Schenn, Couturier and Coburn all stay in that scenario. Assuming this comes with an extension or the promise of an extension, that's pretty much exactly what was being hoped for by most. It would be tough to swallow but I'm certainly thinking about it.

With no extension, it's crazy.
