Mard Savard's concussion

How is the recovery going? Does he have a chance of playing again?

RedBruin 06-18-2012 04:57 PM

Very few updates. He's still not 100%, but obviously better than in the first couple of months. I don't see a chance in hell he ever comes back.

BergyWho37 06-18-2012 05:01 PM

Such a sad ending .. too such a warm hearted man

Wasn't there a report during last summer that he still wasn't allowed to be alone with his kids?

That has to be the first time I've heard Savard called that.

I have never heard anything like this... I believe he is coaching his kids' youth hockey team, I don't think he would be involved with about 20 kids if he wasn't even allowed with his own...

Why the hell wouldn't he be allowed anyway?

I don't think that's the case.

That's a couple of months old, but I think those are fairly accurate, especially since they include his own words.

KnightofBoston 06-18-2012 05:20 PM

He's doing ok, his headaches have gone down but he's still having memory issues

He tweeted recently that he is happy and in love so, what else does the guy need to do?

He'll never play pro hockey again

Reikai 06-18-2012 05:21 PM

I think his NHL days are over but a great person for sure.

Hanta Yo 06-18-2012 05:35 PM

Is he still in any way involved in the Bruins organization or plans to be?

I hope he becomes their PP coach.

Lui One Hall 06-18-2012 05:48 PM

One more concussion and the guy would probably end up a semi-vegetable for the rest of his life.

No need to risk it.

Exactly, he's had a very accomplished career. There's no reason to risk even further injuries.

Where have you been hiding the last couple of years ? Whatever may or may not have happened in Calgary and NY he's been great on and off the ice in Boston.

RogerRoeper* 06-18-2012 06:08 PM

I'd be shocked if he played again. Doctors will never clear him.

Kiss My Rask 06-18-2012 06:20 PM

hes not coming back

Ah, i thought i read it on the bruins board but i cant find it now

One of the better (by far) Bruins in recent times done, because of Cooke. Yeah, **** you Cooke!

It's a shame, I was thrilled when he signed that long term cap-friendly deal and planned on several more 90+ point seasons from him.

Ricky Bobby 06-18-2012 08:03 PM

Marc Savard is done!

He's got little to no motivation to come back to hockey and understandly.

He has moved onto the next phase of his life which is spending more time with family and his sporting passion of being an extremely good golfer.

Savard was a very immature arrogant weasel type player in junior and early on in his career. He matured dramatically later on in his career. Just because the guy is an incredible athlete doesn't necessarily mean terms like "warm hearted" are the best words to describe him.

He wouldn't come out of the dressing room to say hello to his ~13 year old cousin after a loss to Ottawa.

Still unfortunate that he's in such a bad way, obviously.

Dellstrom 06-18-2012 09:46 PM

After a long time of headaches and memory problems, he's finally enjoying his life now. He's enjoying coaching his kids and is playing golf a lot.

He obviously want to, and has reported saying he wants to come back, but if he does, he's said it won't be until the end of his career. Now that he's enjoying his life and is actually healthy, I doubt he, (or his doctors,) take the risk of losing it all for nothing.

Good to hear.

One sad way for his great career to end. Needs to stay away so he can live a normal life
