Not this season because of the CBA uncertainty. The NHL didn't want to take the risk that it could be cancelled after doing all the planning etc.

Chainshot 06-20-2012 01:18 PM

Under-over on back-to-backs this year?

McTank 06-20-2012 01:21 PM

Better not have as many back to backs

I remember Black being pretty adamant on a recent WGR interview that the Sabres were going to scrutinize the NHL schedule pretty closely when it comes out and lobby hard to the league for reducing the number, especially after the Sabres had the most back-to-back's last season.

Not sure what the league average has been in recent years but I'd expect about a dozen to occur.

So, no Cup winner in '13 then...:sarcasm:

The schedule will be released at 11am if I heard correctly.

The NHL is expected to announce the 2012-13 schedule this morning. The Sabres have requested fewer back-to-back games after leading the league or being near the top of the category the previous two seasons.

Teams visit some out-of-conference foes every other season. This year, the Sabres will make trips to Phoenix, Los Angeles, Calgary, Edmonton, Dallas and Colorado, among other Western Conference cities.

Perfect chance to see Staal and Dubinsky play against their former teams. :sarcasm:

Only 11 back-to-backs. Great news.

Yet my Twitter feed is STILL crying about it.

And of course they're also planning the 0-3 start with PIT / DET / NYR, even though nobody knows what any of these teams are going to look like in October.

SOOOO much fail.

Again?

Okay well my prediction right now is that the Sabres are eliminated from the playoff race on April 11th vs. the Rangers leaving one meaningless game against the Bruins to end the season.

Just like every other year in recent memory when the Sabres finish the year out against the Bruins.

07-08 Last game against the Bruins (Missed playoffs)
08-09 Last game against the Bruins (Missed playoffs)
09-10 Last game against Jersey (Made playoffs, eliminated by Bruins in first round)
10-11 Last game against Columbus (Made playoffs, eliminated by flyers)
11-12 Last game against the Bruins (Missed playoffs)
12-13 Last game against the Bruins (who knows?)

ohheyimmark 06-21-2012 10:15 AM

Didn't we have 18 last year? Fantastic.

Although (I could be way off here)...I don't remember our record in the second night of back-to-backs being THAT awful.

Help me HF faithful, you're my only hope.

We had 22 last year, meaning that more than half of the season (44 games) were played on back to back nights. Which I have a feeling was at least partly (in a small way) responsible for some of the injury problems.

Woodhouse 06-21-2012 10:21 AM

Our longest home stand is for four games in January (with the All-Star break in between games three and four), while our longest road trip is also four games long (happens twice; one each in November and December and both start with an east coast game before three on the west coast).

Game breakdown by day of the week:
