I am so pleased he won. It's about time.

What a classy kid Patrice is.

Alan Ryan 06-20-2012 08:24 PM

Outstanding!!!

It should have happened before this but Patrice deserves this completely.

Ivyy13 06-20-2012 08:25 PM

At least something good happened in this Awards show... Absolutely brutal to watch.

MioneRask134 06-20-2012 08:25 PM

And he looks dapper tonight as well!

Well deserved and its about time he's recognized for what he does. The ones who are shocked he won the award clearly never watched what he does every night.

Very proud of him.

Gee Wally 06-20-2012 08:27 PM

Gotta love this kid.

CptxMorgan 06-20-2012 08:29 PM

He was the clear favorite going into the thing, but I was worried he was going to get jobbed. Cool to see his play finally get recognized.

Rookie Chargers 06-20-2012 08:30 PM

Shocks, I thought he had won it every since he entered the NHL.

Where have I been?

:handclap:

Wilhelm Scream 06-20-2012 08:30 PM

Real proud to see this. Well deserved!

From the Bruins web site:

This is Bergeronís first Selke Trophy, after being nominated for the first time in his eight-year NHL career. He becomes the first Bruin to win the award since Steve Kasper in 1982. The 26-year-old led the NHL in plus-minus this season with +36 and won the most faceoffs in the NHL with 973. Bergeronís faceoff win percentage of 59.3% was second best in the NHL among players who took at least 500 puck drops, trailing only Chicagoís Jonathan Toews by .1% (59.4%).

The Ancienne-Lorette, QC native led the Bruins with 42 assists this regular season and finished second on the team in points with 64. He led all Bís forwards in time on ice (18:34) and shorthanded time on ice per game (1:48). His 22 goals ranked fifth on the squad and he tied a career high by playing in 81 games. In Bostonís seven-game Eastern Conference quarterfinals series against the Washington Capitals in the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Bergeron recorded two assists and eight penalty minutes, along with 18 shots on goal.

Bam! At last fans around the league can understand what we've been saying for years.

Kate08 06-20-2012 08:47 PM

Perfect human is perfect.

Congrats Bergy!!

Marchy63 06-20-2012 08:48 PM

It's hard to believe that one of the best defensive forwards in the league would have to wait 8 years before being recognized for his play. Well deserved and I think this could end up being a yearly thing for Bergy now

Mike Yeos Eyebrows 06-20-2012 08:51 PM

Suck it, Datsyuk

disfigured 06-20-2012 08:52 PM

Try fitting that on the mantel for a season (do they take it home?).

Congrats Bergy.

Krupp 06-20-2012 08:52 PM

Yeah, watch, now people are always gonna talk about nominating Bergeron for the next selke...along with Datsyuk of course

This really has been a horrible show. Borderline painful to watch.

Congrats to Bergie though. Well deserved and about damn time.

Central Scrutinizer 06-20-2012 09:01 PM

Bergeron was the best Bruin this year.
