How about Jordan Staal

he just turned down a deal with pittsburgh, do you think he could fit in here. I dont know much about him really

We already got enough centers playing the wing, don't need another one.

CptxMorgan 06-21-2012 05:38 PM

Good player and from all accounts a good kid, but I think he'd be redundant on the B's.

Mr. Make-Believe 06-21-2012 05:39 PM

...

After turning down a $60M deal, I'd say we're out of the running even before the start of the race.

Staal is one heck of a player. But either his demands are outrageous, or he has a place he wants to be already in mind. My bet, is that it's the latter.

thepootamis 06-21-2012 05:40 PM

only if Krejci is traded for a winger like Ryan or Kane then Staal would look good replacing Krejci on the 1st line

MattFromFranklin 06-21-2012 05:40 PM

I like him, don't get me wrong, but it'd be very risky because we don't know if he'd sign an extension here, and he'd be hard for us to move at the Trade Deadline because teams will say, "If he didn't want to sign with Boston, why would he sign here? We can just wait until July 1st (2013) to make a run at him." Also, the asking price will be deep on behalf of Shero. Darren Dreger said that Carolina is interested and a package would start with the #8 Overall Pick.

Bizarro Bandwagoner 06-21-2012 05:41 PM

If I were him, I'd want to play with one of my brothers. He's already got a ring, he's going to get paid either way, why not?

SerenityRick 06-21-2012 05:42 PM

Bruins just don't need him.

CDJ* 06-21-2012 05:42 PM

Nah, I dont want Stall, I'd rather have Staal

Mione134 06-21-2012 05:45 PM

I'd take him.

And he wants more ice time, which is close to impossible under Julien's system.

EverettMike 06-21-2012 06:23 PM

We do need 47 centers......

I know this is nitpicky, but can we please change the title of this thread?

Jordan "Stall" just makes us look really dumb to fans of other teams. It's a little embarrassing.

Dom - OHL 06-21-2012 06:27 PM

The only team in the running is Carolina. Wants to play with his brother.

If Pens trade him anywhere else without an extension, best he gives them is a 1 year deal and then go to UFA

the number they are kicking around is 60 mill over 10 years... if he turned it down to play a backup roll in pittsburgh then he isnt going to take it to play a backup roll in boston.

i dont see his upper end potential to be enough to make me want him ahead of seguin or bergeron here and certainly not at 60 mill over 10 years.

i see him as a guy that wants to play for a particular team or with particular teammates. i believe there is a ton of fire behind the smoke that he wants to end up wherever his brother is and that makes the logical landing spot as carolina.

carolina is saying they want to make a deal for a second line center anyhow and there was a retarded rumour that they were going to give up the 8 pick for gagner out of edmonton. the 8th pick would be worth almost as much as id be willing to give for staal and if carolina truely is willing to part with it then they are going to beat any offer id personally give up for staal.

so when you factor it in.. that he isnt willing to sign to be a third line guy... that he costs too much to be a third line guy... that we got better people in our 1/2 depth spots... and that carolina is going to beat our offer anyhow likely and he seemingly wants to be in carolina... then this is just a total dead end for us

Bonecrusher11 06-21-2012 06:48 PM

He would still be stuck behind two better centers on this team. He won't come here. Actually three with Seguin waiting to take over the #1 center slot.

Wait...what?

Yup, if you want Jordan that bad better make that blockbuster move for Eric Staal instead of Rick Nash first! (Of course you gotta pay both more than Chara .)

TCL40 06-21-2012 08:00 PM

I bet ice time is as much a motivation as the money. I don't blame him for not wanting to play behind Malkin and Crosby.

Carolina makes some sense, but I can see him going anywhere that will have him skating top 6 minutes at the center position.

Pretty much this

We almost have so many great defensive players that we can splurge and get a true offensive threat as long as he isnt soft as butter

Yup. Very good player but the Bruins are better off committing their remaining cap dollars elsewhere. #37 can do just about anything Staal can and in some ways more.

finchster 06-21-2012 08:32 PM

I think Staal could improve this team, it would be nice to have a high end left handed centre to run the power play on the otherside of the ice (we don't have this luxury). When you factor in money and how Staal wants to play with his brother it is irrelevent

CanadianBruinsFan 06-21-2012 09:20 PM

Jordan Staal is Patrice Bergeron, with slightly more offensive potential and slightly less defence. He's not good enough to play #1 centre, he's a perfect #2 centre. Which the Bruins have. Not worth the farm.
