Steve Ott

Well after seeing Dallas deal Ribeiro to the caps for Eakin and a 2nd, what would you think it would cost us to get Ott?

If I recall we were speculating at the deadline he would cost us too much, but after seeing that deal... man I wonder.

I would not mind having Ott, what do you think?

Heaton 06-22-2012 06:55 PM

If I could have any bottom 6 player in the league, Steve Ott may be the one I choose.

JRB86 06-22-2012 07:06 PM

Mursak, Emmerton and a pick?

Nah, Dallas would want more than scraps.

Brutal.

JRB86 06-22-2012 07:34 PM

I thought the trade for Ribeiro was brutal, figure we may as well try and capitalize on Joe before he gets fired lol.

SoupGuru 06-22-2012 07:36 PM

I want Ott on the Wings like I want eyeball cancer.

Which is to say, not at all, in case you were wondering.

JRB86 06-22-2012 07:39 PM

Soupnazi and soupguru.... O.o

Kyleftlx 06-22-2012 08:01 PM

If that's all Dallas got for Ribeiro, why didn't Detroit get it done?

No interest in him?

Asking price was probably higher within the conference.

Another soft, small center that passes but won't shoot? And who has a really big cap hit?

What's the point of that?

Ott would be a good addition. I'm glad someone else got stuck with Ribeiro.

cjm502 06-22-2012 10:14 PM

I would rather pay Hudler 5m than have that rat on our team.

You left out "diver."

Do you want a guy who can't handle the puck, takes bad penalties, and is constantly a distraction on the ice? Steve Ott is your man!

He's respectable at faceoffs, but other than that there's a reason most Dallas fans wanted Ott gone, not Ribeiro.

He's first in the league. Check nhl.com.

Ott is 14th in face-offs, Toews is 1st.

It's a joke. Ott was running his mouth during HBO's 24/7.

Oh man, stuck? He's only got 1 more year left on his contract. 5 million is the cap hit for a pretty steady point per game guy. Ribeiro's hands are comparable to Datsyuk's, no joke, and he'd immediately boost the offense.

Ribs was a lot of things in his past, but his time in Dallas was pretty outstanding. I'm surprised they moved him, honestly, since he's been their #1 guy. They literally now have Benn (who prefers wing and was "converted" to center last year) and Ott (who is a disaster on the 2nd line). I'm not sure what's going on in Dallas, other than they'll be contending for a lottery pick if they don't make some big moves soon.

My bad...I can't believe I forgot that!

Kronwalled55 06-23-2012 12:03 PM

Granted he's not always a bottom 6 player, but I would pay more to get Clowe over Ott.

San Jose will not trade us Clowe.

Hobnobs 06-23-2012 04:43 PM

Why trade for Ott? Rather get someone like Neil or Thornton.

Because Ott can play in the top 6 and the bottom 6. He's a superior player who can play in all situations. Neil can play some PP but Thornton is mostly a 6-8 minute a night guy

Fair warning, Hudler looks like Datsyuk with the puck compared to Ott.
