He just got better and better in the WHL. Solid pick.

This pick was about as good as it gets seeing where we finished this past season.

PhXcoyotes 06-22-2012 09:51 PM

I like it :handclap:

That's a good way to put it. I didn't think of it that way. I'm okay with the pick, just not excited.

A big boy for a change too

I'm good with this pick. He was a riser, so was OEL. DM loves his pedigree picks, going all the way back to drafting Brett Lindros when he was GM for the NYI.

Henrik gets my vote for the Calder in 2013...

broinwhyteridge 06-22-2012 10:26 PM

Good pick considering the spot.

LOVE this pick!

PHX FireBirds18 06-22-2012 10:31 PM

You know he's well coached. Gets to sit around a table consisting of Dineen, Tip, Quenneville, not to mention his dad during the summer. Suspended 4 times in a shortened season with the Oil Kings. He's going to have to learn how to harness that emotion we don't want him to become a gasp...repeat offender.

Just read that ulf currently resides in Scottsdale and henrik considers that to be his hometown. I like.

Also he's the largest player selected in the first round .

Looks like a great late pickup. Loved what was being said about him in our draft thread. Too busy with kids to watch the draft live, but am looking for scouting reports and info on him now. The Phoenix connection, with Ulf etc, is just a cool add on to the story. Great night for the yotes!

TJinAZ 06-22-2012 10:46 PM

yea...!

I watched some of the WHL playoffs this year and he was like a man among boys. He was looking pretty dominant out there. He is the first kid born in AZ to go in the first round.

Henrik Samuelsson # - RW/C

Age: 18
DOB: 1994/02/07
POB: Scottsdale, AZ
Height: 6-2 Weight: 211lbs

Me likey!

I actually went to high school with this kid. Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale. He played for PF Changs here in AZ.

Highest drafted AZ raised player if im not mistaken?

All in all i like the pick. Kid has some edge to his game.

Talk about a marketing department's dream! Once we actually get one that is. An AZ native on the team, we've come a long way baby.

Hockey clearly isn't working in the desert!

Just saw a couple of the hits that likely resulted in his suspensions. A cross check high to the head and a knee on knee reminiscent of his Dad. Not a fan of that kind of play but it's better than watching someone hop out of the way all the time like Mueller.

The other thing i like is

Age: 18

Kid isn't done growing yet... He will likely be 6'3+ and 225 by the time he is a regular at the NHL level. Plus with his lineage he is not going to be a whiner or quitter.

Is he a ******? lol

Kimahri 06-22-2012 11:36 PM

Are you guys sure he's born in Scottsdale? MacKenzie said he was born in Pittsburgh after the selection. I've also seen a site that lists him as born in Sweden.

rt 06-22-2012 11:38 PM

He never came to Scottsdale until Ulf did. The point is he played all of his developmental hocjey here.

Official combine stats had him at 216 iirc

Naych_PHX 06-22-2012 11:40 PM

Yeah, his whole birth thing is weird. He has dual citizenship, and he is going to be playing for the US in tourneys, I think. I don't know if his hometown is the same as his birthplace. which is Phx and which is Pitt? Guess we'll have to find out from him. It was a rather Pittsburgh centric day today.
