6/23 - 2012 NHL Draft Part II (Rounds 2-7) - 9 AM CDT - NHL Network

The first thread hit 1000 so keep chatting about Mathew Dumba, who Minnesota takes at 46 or the picks in the draft.

squidz* 06-22-2012 10:46 PM

Malcolm Subban's comments about going to Boston while PK is a Hab were pretty funny.

squidz* 06-22-2012 10:47 PM

New Jersey picks Matteau

Victorious Secret 06-22-2012 10:47 PM

Matteau is gone. Another USNDTP pick.

squidz* 06-22-2012 10:48 PM

Depending upon who goes 30, right now USHL has 7 picks and 3 USNTDP guys to tie OHL at 10 for most picks.

ShutDownDefense 06-22-2012 10:49 PM

Yeah it'll be interesting to see what we pick up in next rounds tomorrow.

Victorious Secret 06-22-2012 10:49 PM

I thought Subban switched to goalie at age 12. Right?

tyratoku 06-22-2012 10:49 PM

USA is definitely growing as a developmental nation. Matteau makes it six Americans in the first round and four of the last five. Good stuff.

I think next year is really going to be great, with Seth Jones leading the way.

Columbus has to select to take LA's pick and grab Collberg don't they?

Fel 96 06-22-2012 10:50 PM

Pearson to Kings.

Victorious Secret 06-22-2012 10:50 PM

I like the Rudy theme music their playing.

squidz* 06-22-2012 10:52 PM

I'm astonished. Collberg out of the first. Assuming Edmonton picks a defenseman, either Collberg or Frk will fall to 33rd at a minimum.

I believe one of the conditions was that they had to let LA know at least two picks before hand, so before the 28th pick was made, they had to let LA know. I don't think that's happened, so I guess not?

tyratoku 06-22-2012 10:54 PM

Hmmm, Collberg there at the top of the 2nd.

Perhaps my dream of taking McCabe and Schmaltz can be replaced with taking McCabe and Collberg? Nice.

And interview with Schmaltz now on the NHL.com stream. I'll be seeing a lot of him this season, it should be fun.

You would be correct. They had up to 2 picks before to do take the pick from the Kings.

Jbcraig1883 06-22-2012 10:55 PM

Tomorrow is going to be interesting...

State of Hockey 06-22-2012 10:55 PM

And the overager concludes the first round. Good for Pearson.

Victorious Secret 06-22-2012 10:56 PM

Sure will be. Hopefully some more trades happen. None happened in the second half of the first round. Right?

Fel 96 06-22-2012 10:56 PM

Don't forget to create a thread for each Wild draftee.

I shouldn't be here tomorrow morning.

Avder 06-22-2012 10:57 PM

So tomorrow starts at 9am?

Yeah I wont be up by then.

Victorious Secret 06-22-2012 10:57 PM

Will do Felix.

I'll be up for the draft.

Sportsfan1 06-22-2012 10:57 PM

Got to hand it to the Devils for that pick, nice. :D Very interesting draft tonight!

rafterman 06-22-2012 10:59 PM

Columbus has the first pick in the 2nd, no need to take the LAK pick if they want Collberg.

tyratoku 06-22-2012 11:00 PM

I should be up by the start of it. Is anywhere doing a live stream or am I going to have to go and do the old firstrowsports trick?

I have to fix my car tomorrow as well, so hopefully they can fly through the 2nd and 3rd rounds by 11 or so, then I can get to work.

Overall, the first round was pretty fun this year. The Staal trade was awesome, the Visnovsky trade was a bit of a surprise, and Dumba seems like he could be a good pick. Good stuff. The only things I didn't like was VS dropping the draft to CNBC, and then they drop the draft to...no where. That's cool I guess.
