He has a good feel for the puck and makes crisp, accurate passes. He backchecks well and shows good stick positioning. He is a very hardworker and is quite smart with the puck; keeps his head up and is always aware of the play.

He started off the year making simple plays and playing an unspectacular game but over the course of the season, his confidence grew and began to use his creativity and stick skills more often. This helped his offensive game grow and suggests he has top six forward potential.

There are still question marks on whether he can translate this upside against tougher competition as Massachusetts high school hockey is still considered a tier lower than the CHL or USHL. He could also improve his quickness but the combination of size, skating ability, hockey sense and two-way play is very intriguing.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL also share a positive impression on Gilmour as they recently drafted him second overall in the USHL draft. He will get plenty of ice time against proper competition, great for his future development.

Centreman with some size (6'2" 194 lbs) heading to Boston College.

Abraham85 06-23-2012 10:06 AM

Any info on him besides that?

Kid rips it up. But it is High Schoool. Almost a GPG, though. Already 6'2" and 194 pounds. Nice size.

topshelf20 06-23-2012 10:06 AM

He's a 6'2" // 195 guy. Put up points last year. Going to BC, a great school to develop his skills. I like it!

Circulartheory 06-23-2012 10:07 AM

selected 2nd overall in the USHL draft

Intriguing pick. Big centers are always intriguing.

In the words of the guy who posted above me two posts above me:

“I absolutely adore this kid,” Chan said. “My first viewing of this kid I came away thinking he’s
okay, has good size, skated well, and made simple plays. He showed off solid skating, a good
forechecking game and was responsible in both ends, good enough for late round consideration. But in the next few games I saw him, he started to display some creativity and impressive stick skills.”

I like that hes going to BC. I'm guessing one year of juniors before he goes?

i always have reservations about kids going to "other" NCAA programs. Hate to cheer against them in hypothetical championship brackets.

Circulartheory 06-23-2012 10:10 AM

Shrader and I both one of our guys lol. I'm jumping in my room with excitement!

Victorious Secret 06-23-2012 10:10 AM

But if they go to either Boston program, you know they are gonna get some pretty dang good coaching and competition.

yeah i'm not mourning their development--just it feels slightly dirty cheering either for them or against them.

At least Draeger will learn adversity from getting his ass beat down opening weekend.

Victorious Secret 06-23-2012 10:17 AM

Very true. Can't count that out.
