Pittsburgh-Chicago

to Pit: Brandon Saad

to Chi: Joe Morrow

Pit is loaded with D prospects, Chicago is loaded with Forward prospects. I think this trade balances both prospect pools with equal-caliber type prospects.

What do you think?

Cullksinikers 06-23-2012 08:18 PM

No thanks on trading Saad. The only way I'm alright if Saad is dealt is if we acquire a proven impact player in a trade.

I think both teams need to see how their plans for UFAs and their existing players shake out first before considering a trade like this.

If chicago was looking for D help though, doesnt make sense that they would be shopping Hjalmmerson

It actually does if you think about it.

Super Joe Vitale 06-23-2012 08:20 PM

the value is there, and I do think it would benefit both sides. But I think both Chicago and Pittsburgh value those two guys too much to swap them. At least for now

Well I would think they would be shopping him in order to clear the way to try and upgrade him through free agency or trade.

Marlo Stanfield 06-23-2012 08:23 PM

Wouldn't Saad for Desperes be a bit closer?

wej20 06-23-2012 08:24 PM

No to trading Super Joe.

TorstenFrings 06-23-2012 08:34 PM

I see the idea here and agree with it. PIT has a D heavy prospect pool and CHI's is skewed in favor of forwards. Don't you maybe want to start a bit smaller though? Like Morin for Harrington? I doubt either fanbase is to keen on dishing their faves, even though it may well be mutually benefitial.

Morrow just isn't allowed to go anywhere. Which okay, Shero may disagree with, but I doubt it, what with the drafting his sidekick 8th overall yesterday.

Not as fun.

I think 12 months ago the Penguins liked Morrow more than Staal, and I don't see why they'd change their minds so soon.

12 months ago Saad wasn't coming off the big season he just had.

Roo Mad Bro 06-23-2012 08:37 PM

Good proposal IMO.

Neither was Morrow.

Zbynek 06-23-2012 08:57 PM

Terrible proposal.

If the Penguins wanted Saad, we would have drafted him over Joe Morrow when we had the chance.

There's a reason why Morrow was taken 20+ picks before Saad.

SIDGENO8771 06-23-2012 09:02 PM

Maybe Maatta or Pouliot not Morrow.

HockeySensible 06-23-2012 09:02 PM

Chicago is not trading Brandon Saad. Simple.

Ok do you want Mark McNeill? Seems like all you care about is where they got drafted a year ago so I guess McNeill > Morrow since he was drafted before him.

I put Saad in because he's a big time offensive prospect. If you aren't aware of that then I suggest you get educated, particularly about a player from your city. Don't spew your ignorance because you aren't aware that prospect values change a year after they are drafted.

SinfulCobraZ 06-23-2012 09:07 PM

To the OP, this is a deal that could be beneficial to both teams however it would be a NO from the Pens. Morrow is coveted in this organization and we aren't moving him for Saad. Thank god that Chicago doesn't want to move Saad for Morrow or it would have turned into a war between CHI and PIT with fans trying to downplay the other prospect.

HockeySensible 06-23-2012 09:07 PM

The deal just doesn't make much sense. Chicago's giving up an outstanding prospect at a position they have holes at on the NHL roster for a Dman that they don't really need, though impressive he may be.

Blackhawkswincup 06-23-2012 09:09 PM

Agree with Hoss

Saad is our most promising LW prospect in sometime and the kid looks good. Hawks coaches/scouts/management love the kid

He isn't going anywhere

Ragamuffin Gunner 06-23-2012 09:37 PM

Shero picked Morrow over Saad last year and Morrow almost made the Pens out of camp. No way he even considers thins.

OT: Are we, as Pens fans, going to have a new "Pens stud D prospect to my team" every week now?

Why not? We've got enough as it is
