Prospect Development Camp Jun 26-30

http://coyotes.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=635566

Early this year, Starts June 26th.

BOOOOOOOOOOOO, It's in Scottsdale.

PHX FireBirds18 06-23-2012 09:51 PM

Normally that would be awesome for me but I'm out of town those first fews days. I'll be able to catch the last day of camp. Hopefully they will have shaken off all the rust by then and are firing on all cylinders for my evaluation.

They're probably just not mentioning everyone who will be there. Murphy will be there:

Rosters come out later. I wouldn't worry about who is and isn't there yet :thumbu:

Browsing around on twitter today and saw a couple of players we didn't draft talking about coming to camp. A sneak peak of the try out invites perhaps?

Keep your eye on Nick Mac Neil. I watched him for a number of years in Cape Breton. Great size, protects the puck well, and good hands.

Coyotes Announce Prospect Development Camp Roster

Along with Miles and Nick, Coyotes are also bringing in Victoria Royals forward Austin Carroll, Oceanic Rimouski forward Alex Belzile, and Northeastern University goalie Chris Rawlings

PHX FireBirds18 06-25-2012 04:29 PM

There's going to be a lot of jam at this camp. Wouldn't surprise me to see a few fights.

Blubba Jenkins 06-25-2012 10:15 PM

Why did they bring Rawlings when we just drafted Langhamer?

AZcoyotes33 06-25-2012 10:28 PM

Austin Caroll is also a local AZ product. Went to Notre Dame Prep before leaving for Junior hockey (same high school as Henrik Samuelsson)

Kaizen 06-25-2012 10:31 PM

Langhamer's in Europe and they could make arrangements to get him here on such short notice? :dunno:

Besides Marek, another name that is missing is Andrew Fritsch (2011 6th Rounder). Fritsch had a wrist injury back in November, but came back and played for the Soo.

Can someone please get some video this year? Would be awesome.

According to someone who asked Burkie at camp today "we already have 3 goalies and we want to look at this free agent. So little ice time isn't worth jerking him out of europe."

So there ya go. As for Fritsch... :dunno:

Last year the Coyotes had some video on their website.

I'd record the whole thing but my camera sucks.

ScottsdaleYote 06-26-2012 07:50 PM

Any perspectives from today's camp? I heard Gormley looked great (as expected) and Samuelsson's puck handling stood out.

Boedker89 06-27-2012 02:29 PM

Yeah, can we get an update on how the prospects looked yesterday? Would be helpful

SniperHF 06-27-2012 03:04 PM

I'm heading out Friday if no one helps ya guys out by then :P

Llewzaher 06-27-2012 06:25 PM

wouldn't Andy Melie be considered a prospect?

Devils Advocate 06-28-2012 06:02 PM

I think I want to know what's going on, and then I think about Wheeler, Turris, and now this kid that bailed on the Ducks. Why care anymore? Will Gormley be the next?

ScottsdaleYote 06-28-2012 06:12 PM

Think about Boedker or Ekman Larson or Stone or Summers...yes you should care.

What happened to you man? You had alot of great posts in that past that lived up to your username and now not even as much effort goes into it. Granted, I understand this cluster**** has been very depressing on all of us but even this kind of stuff being said is far more negative than what I even have to say.

Right now, I don't see any reason why Gormley would want out. There is no loophole in his favor, Turris was made as an example for anyone else in the system that dares to try and pull the kind of stunt he did last off season and onto some of the regular season. At least with Gormley, he wasn't drafted in the Moyes, Ellman, Gretzky era unlike, Mueller, Turris, and Wheeler. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if he is more appericated to be picked by us seeing he was supposed to be the 5th overall pick in the draft and wasn't until the 13th pick by GMDM and company.

When asked to identify players who stood out in the first two on-ice workouts, Maloney listed defenseman Brandon Gormley and forwards Henrik Samuelsson, Jordan Martinook, Ethan Werek, Lucas Lessio, Brendan Shinnimin and Samuel “Hunter” Fejes.

“Hunter Fejes has caught all of our eyes with his speed and the compete level that he’s had,” Maloney said of the team’s sixth-round selection in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Regarding Shinnimin, the undrafted WHL Player of the Year last season, Maloney said:

“With Brendan, all it takes is five minutes watching practice and you’ll pick him out because he’s the most competitive player in every drill… He’s on the puck hard and he really is fun to watch.”

He added, “Don’t bet against this kid. He’s got this internal drive to succeed… He’s a great asset for our organization to have.”

Seems like the main attractions they look for are size and speed/intensiveness...
