Your right handed defenseman

So with the flyers aquiring Schenn, that takes our RH defensemen up to ohhh, 1.

We could really do with another stable 2nd or even 3rd pairing defenseman that can play on the right. Playing the PP would be a bonus.

Timonen - Schenn
Coburn - Grossman
Mezaros - (RH D here)

What would you want from the flyers.

PS.

The flyers are not looking to package any star player to move. You are not going to get Schenn, Giroux, Couturier, Voracek, Simmonds ect.

Spongolium* 06-24-2012 04:05 AM

Just a thought, Cody Franson is intruging. What would it cost from the flyers to get him.

A1LeafNation 06-24-2012 04:12 AM

Leafs only needs are a #1 center or a #1 goalie.

Package for Couturier?

LOL who says Franson was the best part of the package? It could be Kadri + Franson + pick.

Leafs needs are a #1 center or a #1 goalie, so if thats not part of the discussion.... peace!

cyris 06-24-2012 04:25 AM

I dont know how available Franson is right now. For an overpayment like a first round pick sure. If you hadn't traded Bobrovsky a package to get him may have worked.
Now that could easily change. If we were to get lucky and sign Schultz, Franson would probably be the odd man out. Or if one of our defensive prospects shines at camp he could be much more available.

If franson was pushed out by another player I would be looking for maybe a vet bottom 6 guy who is a great penalty killer. Someone like Talbot but after the decent season he had I'm guessing you guys would be reluctant to trade him.

Al Swearengen 06-24-2012 04:27 AM

I don't know why you would require protection of players like Simmonds. How far down your depth chart do we have to go before players are available?

Kadri + Franson + pick. wouldn't get you Couturier. Not even close.

Think of it this way if a Leaf made a thread inquiring about a 4th line forward would you think an appropriate response would be for a fan of that team to ask for Gardner?
Cause that is pretty much what you did. Only probably worse because Couturier >>> Gardiner.

Simmonds should be untouchable when inquiring about a bottom pairing Dman.

Spongolium* 06-24-2012 04:31 AM

Wayne Simmonds just scored 28 goals. He's not available.

The dude with 13 regular season goals is >>>> Gardiner. Got it. :help:

Your post perfectly describes Steve Montador. We will take just about anything for him.

Please stop Couterier is a prime asset of Philly one that they will not give up. You should have seen the Philly-Pitt series if you wanted to see how good he was.

Now if you will excuse me I will continue to sell Montador.

Are you using goals of a rookie who shut down last year's hart and art ross trophy winner to say he isnt better than Gardiner?

The 18 year old with 13 goals who shut down Malkin in the playoffs is definitely better than the 22 year old Dman with 30 points.

That is not a dig against Gards. Couts is one of the best players in the world under 20.

Didn't Gardiner outscore Couturier as a 2nd pairing d-man?

Couturier is good, but you guys are making him out to be Giroux.

Didn't know 8 points in 6 games was being shutdown.

Monty aint a bad player by any means but he is coming off of two concussions and hasn't played in quite a while. He probably needs to come back and prove he can play for him to be dealt otherwise he is pretty much a pure cap dump at this point. You would have to gamble that he can come back and still be the same player he was before. I don't mind Monty coming back but I would rather be rid of the cap hit.

If you want a Couterier vs Gardiner argument, go create it somewhere else. Both are good players will probably turn out to be great players for their respective teams but Couterier is younger and played behind all the depth in Philly so his numbers don't reflect how good he can be. Now please take this elsewhere so we can actually be on topic.

A second pairing offensive Dman should outscore a 4th line center. Also 1 of them is 18 and 1 is 22.

A1LeafNation 06-24-2012 04:56 AM

Learn to read, I didn't bring up Gardiner in this thread.

In that series ? Yes keeping him under 15 would be a shut down.

CF Punk 06-24-2012 08:36 AM

Paul Martin...

...what? He could always switch to being a righty! :sarcasm:

Hatrick Marleau 06-24-2012 08:49 AM

Are guys interested in our(San Jose) RHD Dmen. We have two young NHL Dmen with Top 4 potential in Jason Demers and Justin Braun. They are both two way dmen and play on the powerplay reguraly. Demers has more potential and is better offensively than Braun. We also have Dan Boyle who is available. He is a number 1 PMD Dman.We will only trade the young guys for young guys. Don't ask about Brent Burns, he is untouchable.
