Anyone have any more info on this new league?

there's some info on Junior Hockey.com and little on the league website.

The commissioner's name, Patrick Pylypuik, sounds familiar and I noticed a few teams from previously failed independent junior hockey leagues are listed as competing this season. NW Ohio Grrrowl played in the Northern Junior Hockey League a few years ago as the Findlay Grrrowl and the Erie Blizzard was part of Jim Cashman's latest short-lived, poorly run league, the Continental Junior Hockey League.

The only thing I have seen that you dont have here is that "The Junior Hockey News" has them listed as an USA Tier III league.

It's not really a new league. The USAH sanctioned Tier 3 league called the Greate Lakes Junior Hockey league split into two. Basically half of the league wanted to split away from USAH to form this new league. The other half of the league felt uncomfortable with that, so they joined the MnJHL.

I'm not entirely certain why the split, but I've heard a lot of rumors between the two previously linked sites that say Tier 3 teams are not pleased with USAH right now. The two main reasons are that USAH wants to exclude 16 year olds from playing Tier 3 juniors and USAH is overly restrictive when deciding on how relocating or adding junior teams affect youth leagues. Hence many Tier 3 teams have bolted for the AAU.
