I found this article to be a great read. By comparing JVR to Schenn and Lupul, the writer shows us how favourable this trade really is for the Leafs.

Interesting, never heard of those stats before.

We got hosed. I am reading the article now, but I don't even need to in order to know it.

I think Holmgren figures we could afford to lose the trade since the forward depth is there to replace JVR but we don't have enough young D talent. So even though we may have less talent overall as a team after the trade, we still make it, because we're getting talent we can actually put out onto the ice (as opposed to more forward depth). I still hate the trade.
