Sabres Development Camp (July 8th-13th) [UP: 6/27 2:22p]

Woodhouse is now the thread owner and will take good care of it.

I assume Armia won't be in attendance?

Anyone have any speculation as to potential invites?

I believe the rumors are that he will get a week off from the military to come to the camp.

Which means...Armia AND Grigorenko...I expect the camp to be well-attended.

Woodhouse 06-25-2012 01:31 PM

Sabres have a presser ongoing right now w/Grigorenko, but maybe the camp dates also come out, as Sabres.com tweeted this yesterday:

"@Fodgoodon: when is the Sabres Rookie Development Camp this year? Looking forward to it this year” That info will be available shortly.

Hope Girgensons shows himself well in the dev camp.

Sean McG 06-25-2012 01:44 PM

I swear a couple days ago Grig posted on his Facebook page something like "I'm ready to come to Buffalo for training July 8th" but I guess it's been removed. I've considered just calling Niagara University to ask them about it.

REALLY looking forward to it, though. I'll probably try and make it for one of the days with drills and definitely the scrimmage.

Also, is Cody Hodgson going to be attending? Usually the Sabres make their guys go until they've completed their ELC's, and Hodgson's still got a year left. Myers still went after winning the Calder so I don't see why Hodgson shouldn't go.

They made Ennis go prior to his third professional year, so I'd imagine Luke Adam will be present, as well. Also, I doubt Brennan and Schiestel will be there given that they're going into their fourth professional season.

I think Brian Flynn will be present, as well. Finally, it's Alex Lepkowski.

Does anyone know if he will be available for the Traverse City Prospect Tournament?

Nobody knows if the Traverse City Tournament is even happening this year. If there's no CBA, it's off--the CBA expires on September 15, and the tournament is in late-September.

Woodhouse 06-25-2012 02:58 PM

It appears that July 8th is the opening date of camp:

No, Armia will not be available if this tournament takes place.

Sounds like the camp ends on the 13th.
Grigorenko mentioned that he'll be in Buffalo until that date.

thefifagod 06-25-2012 03:03 PM

Yeah 8th-13th is the predicted time as mentioned in the posts above.

Thanks.

If you want to go to town with this thread, like you did with the draft and GDTs, just let me know and I'll update the original post with your stuff.

Are we even invited? After dominating and winning it last year, they may not
want us back! :) Hope they do - would be nice to defend our title - even if we
don't defend, its a nice thing to play in - gives our prospects game type action
as a team - better than playing against themselves.

Eh, the guys who "won" it won't be back since it's 2-year or less pro's and the amateur guys.

Well we can defend it as the Buffalo Sabres then although I'm sure there
will be a few draftees from last season who could play. And we are invited
back - as one of the eight teams.

NHL Prospect Tournament
Sep 15 - 19, 2012
Location: Centre Ice Arena
http://www.centreice.org/page/show/4...ect-tournament

The tourney's founder and host, the Detroit Red Wings, collaborate with
hundreds of Traverse City area volunteers to make the prospects tourney
a first class, exciting and memorable experience for all. Teams are divided
into two divisions for a three-day round robin tournament, then ranked by
their win-loss records for final placement in 7th, 5th, 3rd and Championship
games on the final day.

This tournament has expanded to eight clubs (Buffalo Sabres, Carolina
Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings,
Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues), representing
five of six divisions of the Eastern and Western Conferences of the NHL.

The winning team is presented with a plaque to take home and their name
engraved onto a permanent trophy displayed year-round at Centre ICE Arena.

The tournament is scheduled to start Sept. 14 at Centre I.C.E. But it can't proceed without a new CBA.

Nill said the same teams that participated in 2011 are scheduled to return: Buffalo, Carolina, Columbus, Dallas, Minnesota, St. Louis and the New York Rangers.

In addition to Armia, Girgensons, Isackson, McCabe, Navin, and Ullmark would not be available for this tournament due to prior commitments (college or pro teams).

Well, I suppose Foligno and McNabb, as can last year's draftees and this year's rookies, can defend it.

But offense is gonna be an issue, esp with Armia likely not able t o play. Foligno-Grigorenko-?? as the top line?
