Expect the Penguins to announce Sidney Crosby's contract extension on Sunday. Over $100 million dollars with an AAV of close to $9 mil per

I would be so happy. Signing him for the rest of his career would be the best thing ever.

I also think this deserves it's own thread as we will be talking about it a lot.

Yep. So that would be what...12 years? At least?

Awesome.

EDIT: Also shows me that Shero is confident in Sid's health moving forward. Which is a great thing.

YES! YES! YES!

Cap hit = Perfect
Sid here forever = Perfect

With the expectation that Geno would follow suit, let there be no doubt that Ray Shero's going shopping on Sunday, and he's not looking for blue light specials.

Sivek 06-28-2012 10:30 AM

Absolutely great deal for Pens. If it's around 9 mil per, well, let's just pass the savings onto Parise per Sid's wishes. Will be a very exciting come noon Sunday.

Harv 06-28-2012 10:31 AM

Looks like 11 years..

Le Magnifique 66 06-28-2012 10:31 AM

My thoughts exactly. If we end up getting Suter and Parise, the only possible cap casualty would be Letang. But with the cap likely continuing to go up or staying the same(depending on the outcome of the CBA), that shouldn't be much of an issue.

That would be sweet, 104.4 over 12 years

Tender Rip 06-28-2012 10:34 AM

12 x 8.7 = 104.4 million.

DockEllisExperience 06-28-2012 10:34 AM

Awesome news, can't wait to hear all the details Sunday.

Yeah, but Dreger said close to 9 . . .

12 years, 108.7M = 9.05M a year
11 years, 98.7M = 8.97M a year

Jaded-Fan 06-28-2012 10:36 AM

We kind of all knew and pretty much expected this, no? Good having it confirmed though.

Yeah, but doesn't this mean there's no way the Pens could afford both Parise and Suter? :sarcasm:
