Boucher's injured, who's available as backup?

With the new news that Brian Boucher is out for 4 to 6 months with another injury, who all is worth going after on the UFA market this coming season for the Canes?

Peters is a good possibility to bring back into the fold, and Biron's a possible target. Anyone else out there worth taking a flyer on to play 15 or so games a year?

And before anyone mentions him, we've been there with Leighton before, no thanks, dude's rebound control and recovery are **** and he made Peters and an ancient Manny Legace look like frigin all stars by comparison.

Henrik Karlsson?

:)

Ray Emery on the cheap so that Chicago can push hard for Bernier.

Is Karlsson under contract? I think JR would probably try the UFA route first but he definitely has some interesting size to take a flyer on.

Could see something working out there. One of your posters said Brent might be of interest to you guys in an earlier thread, and we already have Riley Nash in the system that can take that #4C spot over if Brent's moved.

Dwayne Roloson and Dan Ellis seem like good possibilities.

Ivan13 06-28-2012 04:11 PM

Desjardins could be an option if Colorado decides to let him go, he was stellar in the AHL last season, but he has durability issues.

Erick 06-28-2012 04:13 PM

Scott Clemmensen is a UFA.

If Chicago pursues Jonathan Bernier, I could see Ray Emery being had for a late pick.

Booba 06-28-2012 04:41 PM

Yan Danis and Cedric Desjardins could be decent options. I feel that they are better than some of the vets out there like Auld, Conklin or Johnson.

Maybe Huet? I didn't thought that he would return to the NHL but with Boucher's injury, Sanford going to KHL and Thomas who basically retired, there are a few more openings that weren't a few weeks ago.

Stassino 06-28-2012 04:43 PM

What would you offer for Robin Lehner or Ben Bishop from Ottawa

Benedict Kovalchuk 06-28-2012 04:44 PM

Go for Dominik Hasek if he's still interested in NHL work.

Probably too pricy to consider for the Canes, since we're mostly looking for a stop-gap and not something long term.

Came here to post this. Wouldn't cost you much.

I hear Vancouver has a backup they're trying to trade. :sarcasm:

Mayor Bee 06-28-2012 04:52 PM

Steve Mason can be a throw-in with another player Carolina wants.;)

As I've said before Desjardins makes a lot of sense, he could be looking for a gig where he could get a decent chance to get some NHL ice time. Last year he posted these number on a non-playoff Lake Erie Monsters team:

32 (GP) 16 (W) 11 (L) 5 (OTL) 3 (SO) 2.11 (GAA) .932 (SV%)
