Do Free Agents want to sign in Philly?

Not sure I can remember a time when it was so clear that all the big free agents didn't want to sign in Philadelphia. Philly is not on Schultz' short list (yet the Rangers are)? Ryan Suter wants to play elsewhere (possibly Pittsburgh) but it seems clear Philly is not on his list. Zach Parise wants to play elsewhere (Pittsburgh) most think Philly is not on his list. Shane Doan wants to stay out west - Philly is not on his list.

Is Philly becoming a less attractive free agent choice? Why? NHL players do not seem to be fans of Bryz, would that keep them away? Are players taking notice to Homer's trading of players after signing long term deals? We were always known as a loyal team, players love the organization, but I am sure there is a lot of talk about guys getting lied to by Homer (no your not getting traded one day, traded the next). Is it the negative Philly media and fans?

Or, is there nothing to it?

Nothing to it at all.

Richards/Carter were a particular case because of their rumored off ice issues (true or not an incoming free agent would not know).

JVR for Schenn was a lateral move, one off and on prospect with an (potentially) above market extension for another.

Schultz seems to want to play in Canada. How many free agents would put Ottawa on their list ahead of the Flyers?

Flyers are still a top destination for free agents. Read, Gustaffson and Johnston all chose the Flyers when they had different options.

I doubt it is anything serious to this. Parise is coming form NJ, so it is understandable that he wouldn't want to come here. Suter, at least according to reports, doesn't want to play in a big market. Schultz seems to want to play in Canada, and most people probably would be intrigued by playing at MSG. If guys sign in Columbus, guys will sign here. Don't sweat it.

This year isn't the same situation as others. Suter apparently just wants to play in the West/in a smaller market town. Doan really only wants to be back in Phx. Schultz, we don't want anyway. I've heard nothing of the sort about Parise.

Also, we don't have a ton of money to offer, so there's a chance Homer hasn't made strong pitches to top FAs.

Free agents can demand NTCs, so I don't think recent trades could possibly be an issue.
