David Desharnais the next marty st. louis

I just want to get a good comments page lol I really do believe he will go to the RW to play with Patches and Galchenyuk that would be a great line I really hope Galchenyuk comes up this year to play with Patches and DD here is what line up of this year

patches-Galchenyuk-DD
cole-plekenec-gionta
rene-eller-moen
Darche-Nokelainen-white

markov-subban
Kaberle-weber
gorges-diaz/emelin

I know there is so many rumors of Yannick Weber of us trading him but his value is not there yet we need him to have a full season and he will be a full timer this year with Kaberle, some say he should play with markov but I really feel that markov would be better with subban. subban learned so much from Gill and gorges so now it is time for him to have time with markov to bring out his offenses edge he has the defense but he needs to show the offense and markov would be perfect for him. diaz and emelin has not yet proven to be a full timer but I think when they play with gorges I really do believe that gorges with develop theses guys to be good DD in the 5th/6th roles. and another thing with this nathan beaulieu and Jarred Tinordi 2 years to develop in the AHL once markov and kaberle leave in 2 years that will give nathan beaulieu and Jarred Tinordi spots in the NHL

so what do you think people?

question do you think that cole should be on the top line to be the mentor for Galchenyuk or do you think patches should be there?

I would suggest the "Nation Hockey League Talk" board.. Not the rumours and free agents lol.

Giving Galchenyuk first line minutes after playing under 80 career games in the OHL is a very bad step for his development in my opinion. It's Blue Jackets style prospect development, and look where that's got them. Let him have another year in Sarnia.

And no, Desharnais will not win a Hart, Art Ross or anything of the sort.

lakai17 06-30-2012 04:22 AM

St.louis is on another level, lets not get carried away.

Corncob 06-30-2012 04:38 AM

Completely wrong board aside, can someone reassure that the OP didn't just suggest Kaberle and Weber as the second defensive pairing? Oh sweet Jesus...

This. Especially coming off a major injury.
Galchenyuk is a fantastic prospect and I wanted him to fall to us at 5th badly but he should spend another year in Jr.

lakai17 06-30-2012 05:13 AM

how many teams would have Desharnais as their #1 right wing?

Desharnais ATM has showed more then marty had showed at the same age, did you watch DD play this year at all? this guy has an amazing hockey IQ, amazing passer too, we can't be sure yet, but I think he's way up there with marty.

lakai17 06-30-2012 05:16 AM

if you guys like David Desharnais then you should take a look at Liam Reddox.

None, but that might be because he's a center.

Fist of Fury 06-30-2012 05:21 AM

GP 81 - G16 - A44 = 60

For me he flew a bit under the radar this season, but he might become something special for Montreal.

You probably would habe said the same about St.Louis not winning a major trophy when he was the same age as Desharnais is now. Don't get me wrong, Desharnais most likely won't be up to the level St.Louis reached but till now he has better stats than Martin at the same age.

St.Louis at the age of 24:
GP 56 G 3 A 15 Points 18

Desharnais at the age of 24:
GP 43 G 8 A 14 Points 22

St.Louis at the age of 25:
GP 78 G 18 A 22 Points 40

Desharnais at the age of 25:
GP 81 G 16 A 44 Points 60

Those are their first 2 (full) seasons in the NHL. Once again I'm not saying that Desharnais will win an award some day but he has better stats than St.Louis at that age and look what a steal he turned out to be. And don't forget Desharnais has produced at every level he played. This guy is for real.

lakai17 06-30-2012 05:23 AM

David Clarkson scored 30 goals this season.

he has potential.

Xamboni 06-30-2012 05:26 AM

Wrong board, wrong comparison.

Yes he's short, yes he's talented, but St Louis is in a whole other world than Desharnais.

That's some NA-style logic. I like it!

umad 06-30-2012 05:32 AM

Wow, I need that magical crystal ball that some of you guys have.

Realistically, probably not. However, there is a small chance he could end up at Marty's level. Don't wanna bring stats into this but, you can't ignore it.

To move from center to RW? I doubt it.

but hey thats not bad for his first full season I do believe he can become a 25-30 goal scorer he did that 5 straight years in the minors and ahl with over 30 in his last 3 years in the minors and 25-30 in 2 seasons in the ahl + I believe he will become a over 50 assist guy in the NHL he almost did this year I think he be a 80-90 point player in the near future

lakai17 06-30-2012 05:54 AM

can we take this to the Hab forum because no one wants to overpay for the soo called 'next Martin St.louis' at the moment, Habs can't afford to trade him, enough rioting in Montreal.
