Armstrong bought out today. May not have worked out in Toronto, but he's a hell of a guy. He'll work hard to make an impact elsewhere.

Not gonna lie I am a bit upset, really like this guy. I hope he figures it out somewhere.

DirtyDion03 06-30-2012 10:39 AM

Wow.. Anyone with cap geek figure out the salary on this?

agropop 06-30-2012 10:39 AM

Colby Armstrong ‏@armdog
Thanks to the leaf nation for the support over the last couple seasons. Although I had tough luck thanks for everything.

....thaaaats what that meant..... ok

yeah, tough breaks, best of luck to a good guy.

Tough luck.

rojac 06-30-2012 10:40 AM

That's surprising. Didn't they need to put him on waivers first? How did we not hear about that? Or did I just miss it?

1 million this year
1 million next year

trickster 06-30-2012 10:40 AM

Wow.
I was just discussing with my dad that none of the Leaf roster projections had Army on them...

Dylbot 06-30-2012 10:40 AM

So the cap hit is 1 million this year and next right?

DirtyDion03 06-30-2012 10:41 AM

Good buy-out if it's 1 million both years.. Opens up a roster spot..

Leaf Rocket 06-30-2012 10:42 AM

loved this guy and still do, hope he figures it out man

Dr Swag 06-30-2012 10:42 AM

Armstrong was honestly the heart and soul of this team.

**** Burke.

I am one bad move away (not landing Schultz) from being done with this excuse of a franchise.

Good guy but didn't contribute much. Could say the same for Gustavsson.

MildlyAwesome 06-30-2012 10:43 AM

Wasn't our record better with him?

To be honest, Armstrong needed to be cheaper but he was an effective checker. Something we needed. We save 2 million right?

The Mentalist 06-30-2012 10:43 AM

I wished Colby well, had the heart but not the luck.

 WTF?

Armstrong was solid, but was definitely not the heart of the team.. Bit of a stretch there. Grabovski is.. And Schultz isn't on Burke, that's on Schultz.. People hate this team for some of the stupidest reasons

Budsfan 06-30-2012 10:43 AM

I wonder why they are clearing cap space, I hope it's not Luongo.

hope it is.

Dr Swag 06-30-2012 10:45 AM

Why didn't Burkie buy out Lombardi instead. That guy was flat out useless.

But noooooooo you just have to get rid of whatever little truculence we had left.

His seems easy. $3 000 000 salary, at 2/3 over 2 years. $1 000 000 for 2 years, saves $2 000 000 this year and costs $1 000 000 next year.

Cya!! And good riddance to Armstrong!

Kuleeee 06-30-2012 10:45 AM

Maaaannnnnnn. 24/7 coming up and we lose the guy with the best personality on the team. Really liked Colby, would have definitely bought out lombo before army.

trickster 06-30-2012 10:45 AM

Komarov likey.

Prepare to have your heart broken.

And with all this heart and soul, he hasn't been able to play 1 full season combined with the Leafs.

He's a great guy and I loved listening to him when he was on the Edge, but it just didn't work out. Tough day for the Leafs fans, cause he was a fan fav.
