Breaking news....the Colts camp at the new Benson Centre in Cornwall appears to be a success for the team and participants. There are skilled players and goalies from Central and Eastern Canada and a number from the USA. 65+ players and 12 goalies set out in 6 teams.

A number of scouts in attendance too. I did not notice if they were NCAA, OHA or Jr B.

The goalies had their own training session Friday night while the players were put through fitness testing. The camp is comprised of combine type fitness testing and visual performance testing with Benoit Veilleux for goalies and players. The scrimmages are high tempo and well matched.

There are a number of stand outs at the camp including 14 year old Chase Pearson, son of former NHL player Scott Pearson from Atlanta Georgia. Perhaps the young Pearson with family in Cornwall will be a future Colt in a couple of years.

Another successful CCHL camp with a number of potential and future Jr. A Colts. There will be a few surprises. However, the Colts GM and head coach operates in stealth mode and signings and the roster should be announced in the near future. When ? Who knows ? Only MacInnis knows.

Coach Dorval of OJS busy in last few days. But will this be enough to have a strong season?

CCHL Schedule

When will the complete schedule be out?
Any ideas?

It's out, I've seen it, not sure why it's not general knowledge yet though

Cornwall's Goalie Situation

Just wondering if anyone knows if Hafner is coming back and if so, where would that leave Jenkins? I would imagine both would want to be starters in their final year of junior hockey.

Hafner will be back for the 2012-2013 season as the # 1 puck stopper.

Thanks for the info eddyshack. It's going to be interesting to see if Jenkins would be content with being the backup in his final year or if he would ask for a trade. Anyone know where he might go?

There was discussion in the previous version of this thread talking about CCHL teams being businesses and the prospect camps driving revenue for them... Business must be good. I see on the Cumberland web site that the Grads are having a second one. Ka-ching.

Big deal, almost every team has two. I know Brockville, Cornwall and Pembroke all do. Plus, teams do find players thru the camps so they do serve a purpose other than financial.

Kemptville

Any news on Kemptville for this season ?

overtheboards 07-02-2012 12:14 PM

looks like the junior sens signed a bunch of prep school kids

RTR 07-02-2012 01:51 PM

Grads seem very quiet. Ottawa "prep kids" may make more of a impact then you think. Gloucester a wait and see team. hawks also quietly retooling.

Keep hearing rumours of signings but have not seen anything official. They have their Camp next weekend, will probably hear after that.

Any news on the coach and part owner ? Where is that news conference announcing a long term agreement with head coach and owner Malloy ?

WildcatMapleLeafs28 07-02-2012 06:04 PM

Can anyone give me any info on forward Stephen Hrehoriak? What kind of player is he? Do you think he's capable of playing in the QMJHL? He recently was added to the Moncton Wildcats training camp roster as a free agent.

I just love your sarcasm. FYI, Malloy was a part owner last year as well and there was no announcement then either. Where in the league rules does it state that all owners must be made public? And why do you even care?

Sarcasm ? How ? Just stating facts.

I do not believe public disclosure of ownership is required. However, someone should advise the League and Board. That is a requirement.

I'm sure they don't know and for clarity I will ask Kevin tomorrow.

Ottawa Guy 07-02-2012 09:19 PM

At the press conference Thompson and Tugnutt said they are the only two owners, not sure what the big deal is anyways, personally I do not care either way.
