Gudbranson44 07-01-2012 02:21 PM

will replace the gbomb on the pp nicely. well done tallon

Panthers are Red 07-01-2012 02:41 PM

I'm happy it is only a 2 year long contract. As I said in previous threads unless it is a top class player I don't want to see us signing contract longer than a couple of years so this fits with that. He played over 23 minutes a night last season so hopefully he can do that for us.

Acadmus 07-01-2012 02:42 PM

Let's hope bringing this former Panther back works better than past experiences...like Ray Sheppard, Bill Lindsay, and Ed Jovonovski.

Dvorak was the only time this kind of move worked for us, and we got the same Dvo we traded 8 years earlier

If Garrison doesn't sign for at least 6 million, I will be pretty upset. If they let Garrison go because of 1-2 million difference, then thats pretty weak.

PanthersHockey1 07-01-2012 02:52 PM

I'm very happy with this move.

Who's to say garrison rather take 5 million playing in vancouver than playing in florida?

ShootIt 07-01-2012 03:06 PM

Didn't expect this.

Interesting to watch him and Campbell play.

Marty Straka 07-01-2012 03:21 PM

Solid signing... upset I never got to meet him or get my Kuba jersey signed before he left for Free Agency :( How hard is it to meet players for autographs in Sunrise?

I used to do it all the time, but they tightened up alot for some reason.

Tuco 07-01-2012 03:25 PM

Welcome Filip!

Also the term. Signing garrison for 6x5 is pretty risky. It could be an ok contract for some team or a terrible contract.

Yeah that Jovo signing really sucked he took our number 3 overall pick from a couple years ago under his wing and he went from playing like crap at the beginning of the year to a monster in the playoffs. And the team made the playoffs for the first time in a decade that signing really sucked. :shakehead

Good replacement for Garrison happy with the signing.

It's pretty easy to do at the practice facility.

it's the term. no chance Garrison signs for 2 years. He's going to get 5 years - minimum.

Laus723 07-01-2012 09:27 PM

Could work well, good signing.

angry_treefrog 07-02-2012 07:58 AM

Some people are complaining about paying $4M for Kuba when Garrison signed for $4.6M. Eliminating the obvious "he has to want to sign here" argument...

Kuba $8M commitment

Garrison $27.6M commitment

I appreciate what Garrison did for the Panthers, but I would have been uneasy if Tallon had signed him to that contract.

I am pretty sure he took a paycut because nobody was going to give him the money he wanted.
But the one thing he got is the long term contract.

:laugh::laugh:
Yeah he mentored Guds pretty well...but you're saying we couldn't find someone who could do that while also NOT sucking eggs on the ice?

Face it - our defense had two glaring weaknesses this year: Jovo's speed and balance and Weaver's size and strength. And the team made the playoffs and also won the division...but did so by backing into the spot. I'd love to see replacements for these two that help ensure the team doesn't go on any extended losing streaks at the tail end of the season.

Very much this, and Guds' abilities and determination helped as much (or more) as Jovo's tutelege.

Haj 07-02-2012 09:18 AM

So we are not resigning Barch ?

He could actually play.

Mogo 07-02-2012 09:18 AM

I think the major sticking point with Garry leaving is the years. I doubth Tallon would offered over 3-4 years. We got Kulikov, Campbell, Guds tied up long term. Jovo 3 more years and Petrovic and Robak on the way up. Oh yeah and Ellerby

Mock all you want Acadmus. Don't care.

Love Jovo, don't want him to go anywhere. Period.
