Welcome to our newest defenseman.

I like this signing. Unlike the Souray one.

I like this signing quite a bit, if it's true. Weird that it isn't up on the Ducks' site yet.

Sojourn 07-01-2012 07:59 PM

I've already heard good things about him. An example someone used was Lydman, but bigger and more physical, but a little less mobile.

Lord Flashheart 07-01-2012 08:03 PM

This still hasn't been announced officially. That's weird.

Hope we're not pulling off a Colorado and Carkner...

Duck Off 07-01-2012 08:05 PM

Its a decent signing, however the Souray signing is so bad that it kills any enthusiasm I have about this one.

It's on the Register and on Capgeek. That's good enough for me.

I was a little surprised how little people knew about him in the FA GDT thread. I don't know a lot either, but I think it's quite a solid signing.

I would have preferred around 3-3.25, but it's not far off.

Decently physical. So-so skater. Pretty solid defensively. #3-4.

jax00 07-01-2012 08:21 PM

With the Souray and Brookbank signings I'm not so peeved about this one.

But Im still ****ing pissed.

Gibson Les Palms 07-01-2012 08:28 PM

I like this a lot more than the Souray signing.

Paul4587 07-01-2012 08:49 PM

This was a good signing. To echo what others have said, it's much better than the Souray signing. Allen is a good #4 guy.

It's up the Ducks website now as well.

This fellow is a nice player, and a nice get by the Ducks. Unlike Sheldon Souray.

DuckJet 07-01-2012 09:17 PM

So what's the blueline like now?

Fowler-Beauchemin
Sbisa-Souray
Allen-Lydman/Vatanen?

I was really hoping we'd be after Carle.

If everyone plays well, that's not a bad blueline. Assuming Fowler reaches a new level and Sbisa doesn't trail off.

Why? Carle is exactly what we didn't need. A soft PMD with a terrible shot who is average at best in his own end. He's a #4 defenseman who is going to be paid big $$ because he's one of the only guys out there puts up close to 40 points a year.

snarktacular 07-01-2012 09:31 PM

Carle is Whitney 2.0. We don't need that kind of player.

Whitney without the size and with a really, really bad shot.

Whitney has a bad shot too. Not that it's actually bad, but it's like how you might as well say Getzlaf has a bad shot.

In the sense that every shot that isnt shot is a bad shot.

davidy2d 07-01-2012 10:34 PM

Carle is so bad.

KEEROLE Vatanen 07-02-2012 12:02 AM

Didn't like it at first but adding Souray in addition, now it all makes sense, we're much bigger and tougher on defense, than that marshmellow crew we ran out last season.

Allen+Souray>>>>>Brookbank+Lubo(based on how Lubo regressed)

Giguere27 07-02-2012 02:49 AM

This signing remindes me more and more of the Lydman signing.Underrated defensive defender, who was missed by his old team.Let's hope he will have the same impact as Lydman in his first year.

Agreed, hopefully Allen could make as good impact as Lydman did.

Beauchemin-Fowler
Sbisa-Allen
Lydman-Souray
Guenin/Clark/Vatanen

Unholy 07-02-2012 03:08 AM

Not bad at all. Defensive guy with some toughness. Was needed.

And Souray hasn't regressed?

Back on topic. Good signing, should be paired with either Souray or Sbisa next year.

Serious question, what were you actually expecting in FA? Because all I've seen you do so far is complain :\

Our signings haven't exactly been terrible so far.

Hampe 07-02-2012 05:41 AM

The more I think about it, the more I like this signing.
