Excitement and drama, please.

Q: In your opinion is Columbus aquiring Foligno a signal that we are out of the Nash market since Dubinsky would be kind of redundant for CBJ to aquire as well and Dubi would have to be going back for the deal to make sense for us?

Sorry of this was broached in the other thread.

Ailurophile 07-02-2012 06:53 AM

Rangers can't stay this quiet with Gabs out to start. If they go to war with what they have now its gonna be a rough October or better unless training camp has some surprises.

Brodeur squeezed a second year out of Lou? Lolololol.

GAGLine 07-02-2012 06:56 AM

Gotta pad those stats.

Never mind i am sure his ego would have been boosted after the talk about how much he was wanted yesterday.

And Marty might be able to squeeze out one more decent to good year.

At the same time you don't make a bad move for the sake of making a move. Rangers should keep looking and keep their options open, but making panic moves is a bad idea

Only a 2 day work week for me and it's slow. I'll be F5'n all day.

Probably had coffee with Snow & Wang for leverage and they offered 6 yrs.

Lou then proclaimed: "Two years s but a mear pittance!"

Yeah definitely no knee-jerks.

Vitto79 07-02-2012 07:17 AM

meh day one was fine. the UFA list stinks so try and find some bargain deals day 2

lost Prust Mitchell and Scott. Really just Prust matters
got Asham, Haley for spare F or CT and retained Newbury and Bickel for depth guys

In the end the roster sits needing that 1 top LW. I expect a balzy deal and does not have to be Nash.

X, Richards, Gaborik
Kreider, Stepan, Callahan
Hagelin, Dubinsky, Anisimov
Rupp, Boyle, Asham

Sure could use a faceoff C. McClement wen for a good price in TO dammit. Winchester is still out there and rumored so maybe he is a depth guy on the cheap

Have a feeling they may sign Meuller and then deal Anisimov for a top 4 Righty Dman

NYR Viper 07-02-2012 07:20 AM

The Rangers need to add some players. I am a fan of what they have done so far (I know I will be in the minority there) but they need to add, at the very least, a 3rd line scorer and a d-man.

New York RKY 07-02-2012 07:28 AM

I feel like if one of Parise/Suter winds up with Flyers/Pens I see one of Ryan/Nash winding up with the Rangers in the very near future.

I think Sather will add another piece to try to get a deal done, and if Howson doesn't like it he may move on to Ryan. I think he will feel more pressure to make a move to keep up with our rivals.

As many of you know I'd much perfect Ryan over Nash but at this point whatever. We need to improve our team at some point so hopefully we'll get one of those two.

NYR Viper 07-02-2012 07:38 AM

I am thinking the Rangers sign Winchester(who they have been tied to) and Mueller. I honestly have NO IDEA who the Rangers could be looking at on defense but they need (2) from somewhere.

Fitzy 07-02-2012 07:43 AM

I wonder where Jagr signs. If he has stuck around for 3 years instead of KHLing, he could very well have passed Messier for #2 all time in scoring.

No, but what about making a good move? Everyone talks like it's either a bad move or no move at all.

NYR Viper 07-02-2012 07:51 AM

I am baffled by how much money and how many years players like Souray and Allen got. Unbelievable.

Did McClement really only get 1.5 million/season? He would have been a good 4th line center for that price.

He has offers from 21 teams according to this:

Great Marty is re signing with NJ. We get to light him up like a Christmas tree for the next 2 years.

Jackpot 07-02-2012 07:55 AM

Every team in the NHL is "over paying", do you really think they want to?, of course not. Times are changing, and as with the price of gas, salaries are on the rise. So should the Rangers organization boycott the trend in defiance? Would we all be a happier group signing guys on the cheap to save a buck even though it really isn't helping the team?

New York RKY 07-02-2012 07:59 AM

No, let's pay some fourth line scrubs 3 mill a year because "that's what all the cool kids are doing."

So when it's time to pay our actual stars the money they deserve (Stepan and McDonagh) we'll be in cap hell and can't afford it because we paid the ridiculous prices everyone else did.

Let the other teams drag themselves into cap hell I don't want to pay some of this garbage obscene amounts of money.

Uh, yes. These deals being thrown around are TERRIBLE and almost crippling during the salary cap era. How did having Redden, Drury, Gomez and Rozsival on the team feel?

They obviously need to add through free agency but they have to make shrewd signings for their lower lines and defense pairings so they can have a chance to pay the players who are worth overpaying for (see Richards, Suter, Parise, Gaborik)

Killem Dafoe 07-02-2012 08:00 AM

I still think Sather is going to make us very happy very soon.
