JBo to Dallas?

With Hudler's signing in Calgary today, the Flames now have the second highest payroll in the NHL. Dallas needs to take on salary still, and could still use a top 4 D-man. Do you guys think JBo for Robidas+ makes sense? Fills the defensive void for Calgary, while saving them 3 million. Allows Dallas to take on a top 4 D-man while taking on 3 million.

Thoughts?

depending on the + done

Frozen Failure 07-02-2012 05:31 PM

Yes. Please take Robidas for JBo. I'd offer Morrow but he won't waive to go to Calgary.

Modo 07-02-2012 05:32 PM

Depending on the +, sure.

usefulfiction 07-02-2012 05:35 PM

is the + like a really good Nolan Ryan brisket?

bug 07-02-2012 05:35 PM

Due to their salary cap, the plus couldn't be too much of a contract

What do you guys think of Robidas ($3.3 million cap hit) + Fistric ($1.0 million cap hit)

for

JBo ($6.68 million cap hit)

LatvianTwist 07-02-2012 05:35 PM

Oh god yes. Not even gonna blink before I say yes to that.

Unless the + is more than a 2nd.

Who do the Stars have that the Flames would want (hint: not Robidas)? If CGY is worried about payroll they wont want anything to do with Robidas either.

Ott was the centerpiece if there was a deal, and that is no longer an option.

This is basically perfect to me.

LatvianTwist 07-02-2012 05:38 PM

I'd assume any kind of prospect, looking at how barren their pool is.

Hell, just a couple prospects might be enough to get it done. Robidas/Fistric + Ritchie + Vance...?

I have no idea, I don't know how valuable JBo is to Calgary.

bug 07-02-2012 05:43 PM

Seems beneficial to both clubs.

Add Bouwmeester...sign Carle...sign Doan for 2 years.

Loui, Benn, Ryder, Whitney, Roy, Doan - very scary top 6 scoring talent

Bouwmeester, Carle, Goligoski, Daley, Larsen, Dillon, Rome, Benn - much improved D unit

Very much improved team, doesn't screw with youth movement.

DaStars99 07-02-2012 05:47 PM

if Robidas + gets JBo then [head explode]

Frozen Failure 07-02-2012 05:49 PM

If we get Bouwmeester we are not signing Carle.

bug 07-02-2012 05:51 PM

I'm perfectly okay with that. But with dropping Robi/Fistric and even possibly Morrow's cap hits ... we could certainly afford JBo, Carle and Doan

100% correct

Why don't we tap the brakes a little bit, and leave some cap room for 2013?

bug 07-02-2012 06:02 PM

I'm not saying we NEED to do this ... saying we have the flexibility to do so.

Great thing about Bouwmeester is he only has 2 years left on his current contract, which gives Oleksiak time to develop in Cedar Park. Whitney's contract is up in 2 years, and so would Doan's if we gave him a similar 2 year contract. Also, if we hold onto Morrow, his contact is up next season as well. I think we are positioning ourselves in a great way for now and the future.

LatvianTwist 07-02-2012 06:02 PM

Hell no to Carle, even if we don't get JBo.

Even with those deals, there would still be a lot of cap room for 2013.

aisforaaron83 07-02-2012 06:13 PM

depends on the +. If it is a mid level prospect or pick and Robidas then I am all on board for 2 years of overpaid JBo.

bug 07-02-2012 06:22 PM

You've got to think Robidas and Morrow are going to be the next to go ... they just don't fit in on this roster anymore. It is clear we are changing the culture and face of this team. We all love Morrow, but a 4th line captain with limited minutes?

Make your best guess, are they here on opening night? If not, where do they go and for what?

Ethan Moreau. I think we'd rather give Morrow a shot to meld otherwise he'll go to the LTIR.

Troy McClure 07-02-2012 06:36 PM

I'd like to trade Morrow for Moreau for comedy reasons alone. I'd even name Moreau captain just to see if casual fans catch on.

piqued 07-02-2012 06:40 PM

And it would also be funny since Moreau is retired.

My friend has an Ethan Moreau game-used stick (or at least he did). Got it back when he was decent.

Frozen Failure 07-02-2012 07:31 PM

I meant Moreau because he is the epitome of 4th line captain at the end of his career. Like Craig Rivet was a pressbox captain for a while.
