2011-2012 HFNHL Awards Voting
A little late this year...simply because we forgot to do it, but it's time to cast your vote for the 2012 HFNHL Awards.

First off, the HFNHL is proud to announce the following award winners from the 2011-2012 season.

- President's Trophy (points leader, regular season): ANAHEIM DUCKS (117 Points)
- Clarence Campbell: LOS ANGELES KINGS
- Art Ross trophy (top scorer, regular season): JONATHAN TOEWS, DAL (121 Points)
- Maurice Richard trophy (most goals, regular season): HENRIK ZETTERBERG, OTT (58 Goals)
- William Jennings Trophy (goalies sharing lowest GAA, regular season): TIM THOMAS/ANDREW RAYCROFT, NSH (2.27 GAA)

Now on to the voting process...

We are now taking nominations for the remaining trophies to be awarded, which are detailed below. Please take some time to review the season records and then vote for who you feel is the most deserving of the awards. The catch is that you cannot vote for someone from your own team. Winners are determined based on most votes received.

Please do a little research and submit your votes by 11:59 PM EST (GMT -5) on JULY 11, 2012. Nominations should be submitted by e-mail to wiger_33@hotmail.com with the heading "HFNHL Award Votes: Team Name". Results will be announced promptly after voting ends.

Those teams whose players or staff receive awards earn $250,000 for each honor received... but ONLY if that team participates in the voting process!

The awards are as follows:

- Steve Wright Memorial Trophy (top GM, named in memory of the late GM of the HFNHL Ottawa Senators)
- Calder Memorial Trophy (top rookie, regular season)
- Jack Adams Trophy (best coach)
- Hart Memorial Trophy (MVP, regular season)
- Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (most gentlemanly player, regular season)
- James Norris Trophy (top defenceman, regular season)
- Frank J. Selke Trophy (top defensive forward, regular season)
- Georges Vezina Trophy (top goalie, regular season)
- Mark Messier Leadership Award (Best captain, regular season)
- 1st team HFNHL All-Stars (3 forwards, 2 defensemen, 1 goalie)

Now to the fun part. Award junkies, start your pitches!

Panthers pitches

GM of the Year - Brock Otten
Come on...why not? Captured the Eastern Conference regular season title before falling to the Cinderella Habs in the first round. Team has been consistently strong, and this year the team finally had a terrific opponent in the Division in Carolina.

Coach of the Year - Todd McLellan
Continues to have the team performing well. Did a terrific job of incorporating some of the high end talent the team brought in around the deadline, like Marc Savard and Jovo Cop.

Hart Memorial Trophy - Zach Parise
One of two 50 goal scorers on the season, finishing 2nd in the league with 52. Finished 4th in the league in scoring with 109 points. 2nd in the league at +39 on the season. Best of all, most of this damage was done at full strength thanks to the Panthers having a brutal PP. All of this on the first place team in the Eastern Conference.

Frank J Selke - Mike Richards
IMO, this should be a no brainer. Let's examine the facts. First, plays for the first place team in the Conference. Second, he finishes 8th in league scoring with 99 points. Third, he leads the league in +/- at +40. Fourth, finishes 2nd in the league with 4 shorthanded points. All this while wearing the "C" on his chest.

Mark Messier Award - Mike Richards
See his campaign above. Kept the Panthers strong all season long.

Senators picks

GM of the year- Michael McEwan. Found the perfect balance between youth and experience. Adding veterans Zidlicky and Pahlsson early in the season and then offensive spark plug Ray Whitney and depth dman Zanon proved to be just the right moves at the right time.

Coach of the year- Guy Carbonneau, Red Wings. Got everything he could out of the players in front of Lundquist to squeeze into playoffs.

The Mark Messier- Daniel Alfredsson, Blues. At 39 he lead his team in goals with 34, forward ice time 20:98, plus/minus +16, PPG 8, @nd in the league with 4 short handed points and still threw 141 hits while only drawing 35 PIM.

The Calder- Evander Kane, Islanders. Lead all rookies with 27 goals, 2nd in points with 48 while being a plus 14 in under 15 per game.

The Lady Byng- Brad Richards, Blackhawks. With what must have been mostly an accidental 17 PIM this year really freed Richards up to put over 5 shots per game allowing him to amass the 3rd most points in the league and 4th most assists.

The Selke- Ryan Kesler, Senators. 4th in plus minus at +33, 3rd in short handed goals, 10th in hits, 4th in face percentage

The Norris- Duncan Keith, Blackhawks. Led all dmen in goals, assists and points, was a solid plus 14 with 77 take aways in 27 minutes per game. Its hard to find a real weakness in his game and he`s just entering his prime.

The Vezina- Tim Thomas, Predators. A season full of 1st for Thomas: 1st in GAA, 1st in save%, 1st in shots against and second in wins with 51. Like a fine wine he only gets better with age.

The Hart- Henrik Zetterberg, Ottawa. There were some very canidates including Zack Parise, Mike Richards, Jonathan Toews and the afore mentioned Tim Thomas. With Toews team missing the playoffs, Thomas narrowly beating Pekka Rinne for the Vezina and Parise and Richards being teammates of similiar attributes I really dug for differences. The case for Henrik Zetterberg is as follows:

1st in goals with 58
1st in shooting% at 20.21% by over 5%
1st in game tying goals 8
2nd in power play goals 18
2nd in game winning goals with 9
2nd in hat tricks with 2
2nd in short handed points with 4
3rd in plus minus with plus 35
12th in points
12th in points per 20mins
lead all skaters with 17 1st star selections
had 40 even strength goals
had a respectable 52.04% face off %
made 126 hits
only had 24 PIMs
all while playing an average of 22:64 a game

He may not be perfect but he has Hart er...I mean Heart.

HFNHL All-Star team
F- Jonathan Toews
F- Zack Parise
F- Henrik Zetterberg
D- Duncan Keith
D- Christian Erhoff
G- Tim Thomass

hey rookie. you email it in not post it to the board

I like this guy already though

Ohio Jones 07-03-2012 11:52 AM

I like how you pimp other people's players, too - classy.

Ohio Jones 07-03-2012 03:30 PM

For those who were wondering (I think it was Jon?), the award goes to the team the player suited up with for the 2011-12 season, even if they've subsequently been traded.

(If they were traded mid-season... IIRC, I think it's the team they ended the season with.)

Penguins sent ...

Fooladelfia 07-06-2012 10:01 PM

-Jaroslav Halak
most shut out in HFNHL 6
48 wins
0.923 save %
2.28 goals against average.

-Stamkos 40 g 60 ass 100 points

That`s why we finish 6th overall in HFNHL standing....from last to 6th this year.....:sarcasm:

RedWingsLegacy 07-09-2012 02:50 PM

Late but might aswell pimp my two guys

League MVP Toews

Back to Back ? The guy is the only reason i came within reach of the playoffs lead the league in scoring and was all around top among C for FO% Points Per minute PPG GWG and so much more he was that an more for the Stars once again.

Calder Sergei Bobrovsky

The rookie put up strong numbers despite facing a ton of rubber each night and was among the top in wins on the year.

Vokoun shod be a serious candidate for Vezina and Western Conference 1st Team consideration, for reasons that I will elucidate when I get home and can see the season file! :D

Hmmm... I think you're right. I'm probably thinking of the All Star Game. That's what I get for posting on the road.
