I didn't see this posted anywhere and I thought it deserved its own thread. I like both signings. Stalock should be NHL ready soon, and who knows maybe if there's some goaltending change here he'll get his chance to play. I'm glad he's gonna keep getting experience with Worcester though so he can improve.

Danny Groulx, I think I might have heard his name once before and judging by his statistics (http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p....php?pid=35771) he's put up some good numbers in the AHL. Anyone know much about this guy?

Groulx sounds familiar because he played for the baby Sharks in 09-10.

Danny Groulx played for Worcester. Was good on the PP and offensively, the knock was defense. He went to the KHL and is now back, career AHLer.

BTW, Groulx's lackluster defense here a few seasons back really caused some consternation with the fans early in the season, but as the year went on you could see that he knew what his limitations were and he played within them. His offensive upside makes his below average defensive skills passable.

I've never really known this to be honest, what exactly does it mean when its a one or two way contract?

One way means he's payed the same in the AHL and the NHL and two way he has an NHL salary and an AHL salary which is smaller.

Can 201 or Speed comment on what you think the logic is of signing Groulx? With Doherty, Acolatse, Tennyson, Abeltshauser, Irwin, Pelech (assuming he takes QO) and Petrecki that's basically your 7 main defensemen. And isn't Wrenn expected to come to the AHL next year? So I don't see where Groulx fits in unless they are expecting him to play forward.

The guy seems to have a great offensive upside but is bad on D. I was wondering the same thing, why not just try him as a forward?

With DW I'm always expecting a stupid trade. I was hoping there was some remotely logical reason for this signing that did not point to another stupid trade. So I figured I would ask those who would know. :laugh:
